Similar & Different
www.ArleneTaylor.org
Your brain is about the size of your two fists (gray
glove on left and white glove on the right)
Human brains are more alike than they
are different—but like fingerprints, each
brain is slightly different (brain scans)
No two brains are identical in structure, function,
or perception—not even in identical twins—
because every thought you think changes your
brain and no one ever thinks identical thoughts
Arguments to Wars
www.LLM.life
Each brain only has it’s own opinion—there's
never been a true war that wasn't fought between
two sets of people who were certain they were in
the right
The really dangerous people believe they are
doing whatever they are doing solely because it
is, without question, the right thing to do—and
that is what makes them dangerous.
Neil Gaiman, writer
Take Away
www.ArleneTaylor.org
Stop expecting another brain to understand
yours or vice versa—you don’t even understand
your own brain completely, because if you did
you’d be consistently successful
Avoid meaningless argument
and foolish controversy!
Understanding more about brain function gives
you the option of managing yours by design
‘Fiber Optics’
www.LLM.life
The brain takes much longer than the
body to mature—neuronal axons must
be wrapped with insulation (myelin)
80% of a child’s brain is developed by age 3—but it
takes a long time to mature (from back to front)—
there can be 2-3 years difference in maturation
between brains of the same chronological age
The prefrontal cortex is probably not ‘done’ until
mid- to late- twenties—make life-impactful
decisions with care prior to mid-twenties at least
Brain Bridges
www.ArleneTaylor.org
Several bridges connect the brain hemispheres
(e.g., anterior commissure and corpus callosum)
so the right hand knows what the left is doing and
so you can cross over the mid-line of the body
Myelination of the largest bridge, the corpus
callosum, may be done by age
20-21 ― prior to that the brain is
at risk for ‘malfunctions’ or
‘shorting out’ or ‘brain hiccups’
due to incomplete myelination
Gender Differences
www.LLM.life
The male brain may take up to
1.6 years longer to mature—
a later onset of puberty allows
for longer pruning of the corpus callosum so that
is has fewer neuronal axons of smaller diameter,
resulting in two somewhat independent brains
Individuals who are fast at naming something
(e.g., TV game shows) tend to use one portion of
the corpus callosum while those who are slow at
naming something tend to use a different portion
Human Brain Layers
www.ArleneTaylor.org
The brain can be described
as 3 functional layers that
mature from back to front
The 3rd layer or neocortex
houses the consciousness
although only 5-15% may
come to conscious awareness
The 2nd or mammalian layer and the 1st or reptilian
layer are both subconscious parts of the brain
White Bear Phenomenon
www.LLM.life
The brain thinks in pictures and deals
easily with positive statements, a 1-step process
Negative statements or instructions require a 2step process and tell you what not to do but not
what to do
—Daniel Wegner PhD
The 1st and 2nd brain layers may miss the negatives
(e.g., don’t) altogether and follow the first picture
that was created or convert the picture unclearly
and push you toward that unwanted behavior—the
more abstract the thought the harder to convert
If I’ve told that kid once I’ve said
it a million times: DON’T stand
near the edge—and now just
look what happened!!
Thoughts and words create
internal pictures that give
the brain a map to follow
Program Your Brain
www.ArleneTaylor.org
Think and speak affirmingly because affirmation
is the programming language of the brain—tell
your brain what you want to have happen; avoid
telling your brain what you do not want
Use your first name and the pronoun ‘you’ with
short, positive, present-tense words
(Joe, you are . . .; Jane, you can . . .)
Speak as if the new behavior is already in place
and happening right now—this is critical for
altering behavior
PET Scan Studies
www.LLM.life
When researchers asked study
participants to respond to a question
or solve a problem:


Individuals above age 21 tended to respond from
the neocortex or 3rd brain layer
Individuals below age 21 tended
to downshift – focus their energy
and attention to lower brain areas;
the mammalian or 2nd brain
brain layer (emotional) or the 1st brain layer
The Problematic Why
www.ArleneTaylor.org
Regardless of age, when researchers
began a question with the word why,
all study participants (regardless of
age) tended to process responses
from the 2nd mammalian layer and
sometimes even from the from the 1st
reptilian layer (no conscious thought)
The word why implies you should have done
something different and can trigger just enough
worry and anxiety (fear) to downshift the brain from
the cognitive 3rd brain layer or neocortex
Avoid Using the Word Why
www.LLM.life
To avoid or minimize downshifting and enhance
communication in any area of life, try asking:



When you exhibited this behavior what did you
think might happen?
If you make this same choice
again do you think you’d get
similar outcomes?
What could you do differently another time
to get a more desirable and positive outcome?
IQ Neurons
www.ArleneTaylor.org
Brain neurons form the basis for IQ  86 biIlion
neurons the brain; another billion in the spinal
cord (neurons generally do not divide and multiply)


May be arranged in the brain in
fields of 1 million neurons per
field, all vibrating at the same
frequency within each field
Neurons act as radio transmitters (send and
receive their frequency potential), which may
influence who you initially ‘like’ or ‘dislike’
EQ Neurons
www.LLM.life
Heart neurons likely form the basis for EQ
or Emotional Intelligence; more than 80%
of your success in life may be due to your level of
EQ - only 20% is believed due to your IQ
Your heart contains a minimum of 40,000 neurons—
so you think with your heart; moreover, your brain
and heart continually exchange information via an
unmediated channel (free flowing)

Estimates are that you create 50% of your own
problems by the way you think (brain or heart)
Enteric Nervous System (ENS)
www.ArleneTaylor.org
Your ENS (gastrointestinal tract) may contain far
more neurons than are in any other peripheral body
organ and maybe as many neurons as the brain
Your ENS neurons use more than 30
neurotransmitters, most of which are
identical to those in the brain and CNS
Your ENS also contains 90% of all the
serotonin and 50% of all dopamine
found in the brain and body
ENS, Cont’d
www.LLM.life
The ENS has been referred to as a second brain
no surprise that:
 Upset stomach can lead to
•

headache
Upset emotions can lead to GI upsets
Excess serotonin release can trigger
nausea and vomiting; dysregulation
to suicidal ideation
IBS is now being referred to as an enteric (ENS)
neuropathy (neurons are mal-functioning)
Electromagnetic Energy
www.ArleneTaylor.org
As are the sun’s rays, Em energy is a form of
radiation energy produced by neurons—and
according to quantum physics is never destroyed
Em energy leaves your body at the speed of light,
forming a field around it that can be
can be measured 12-15 feet out from
the body but is strongest within 3 feet
Superconducting Quantum Interference
Device Multimeter, (SQUID)-based magnetometers,
Oculargram, Electrocardiogram or ECG,
Electroencephalograms or EEGs, Hologram
Heart ‘Em’ Energy
www.LLM.life
The heart, which is half the size of
the brain, generates the largest
electromagnetic field within the
human body—and the strongest
The electrical field of the heart as measured
in an Electrocardiogram or ECG is about 60 times
greater in amplitude than the brain waves
recorded in an Electroencephalogram or EEG
―Rollin McCraty PhD, HeartMath
Heart ‘Em’ Energy, Cont’d
www.Arlene Taylor.org
The magnetic component of the heart’s
field, which is about 100 times stronger
than that produced by the brain, is not
impeded by tissues - can be measured
several feet away from the body with
Superconducting Quantum Interference
Device (SQUID)-based magnetometers
―Rollin McCraty PhD
Other studies have reported 5,000 or more times
stronger than that produced by the brain
Power of ‘Em’
www.LLM.life
The brain detects and responds to Em
energy on a subconscious level—
children and animals are especially sensitive to it
Brain waves synchronize to heart waves when
people engage in caring touch (e.g., hold hands,
arm around shoulder, massage, laying on of
hands, anointing … )
When you sense negative Em energy from another
brain, implement a pre-planned strategies to block
it, or temporarily distance yourself from the person
Bottom Line
www.ArleneTaylor.org
Positive thoughts generate positive ‘Em energy,’
negative thoughts generate negative
Oops!
Are you putting out positive
or negative Em energy?
Em energy impacts your:



Brain and body first …
People, pets, plants …
Environment and maybe even the Universe …
