styles presented. Anyone who would like to perform is encouraged to do so. Regardless of who's on
stage, you'll never find a more supportive audience. Music starts at 7 pm, but come a little earlier to

There may be time for additional song later, and depending. No admission charge.
Song Circle (4th Sunday of each month at 7:00 PM)
On the fourth Sunday of each month we hold our Song Circle. Members and non-members are welcome …
players and listeners alike are encouraged. Marcia Krieger, along with other members of The Lake
County Folk Club, hosts our Song Circle. The participants form a circle. Each one in turn can choose to
play a song, ask another participant for a song, or pass. The Song Circle is a casual opportunity to kick
back, play some music and meet others. Everybody gets a chance to play or sing songs of their own
choosing … or to play and sing along with others. The circle keeps going 'round to everybody until it's
time to call it a night. Make music, learn new songs, make friends. No admission charge.

Mustard’s Retreat
(September 20, 2015)
www.mustardsretreat.com/
Mustard’s Retreat - David Tamulevich and Michael
Hough -, met in Ann Arbor, MI in 1974, as short
order cooks, both on hiatus from their studies at the
University of Michigan Discovering a mutual interest
in music/writing and performing, they put together 3
songs one day after work, and took them to the
legendary Ark coffeehouse’s open mike night. They
were a big hit, and, on the spot, were invited back to
do a 45 minute set 2 weeks later. Within a year and a
half they had both quit the restaurant and were
doing music full time. 37 years later, they have 9
highly acclaimed recordings of their own, plus 2 more
CDs with their songwriting collective, The Yellow
Room Gang. Mustard’s Retreat has performed more
than 4,000 shows over those years, traveled more
than 1 million miles and in doing so, have earned a
dedicated and loyal following, many of whom have
been coming to hear them since the 1970s. Michael
and David joke on stage about attracting people “with
long attention spans”, but it is what Mustard’s
Retreat gives them that turns audiences into such
loyal fans.
While both Tamulevich and Hough are grounded in
the early traditional 60s folk music boom, they also
were influenced by the songwriters of that time, and
their shows represent an eclectic blend of music, old
and new, with a big dash of storytelling. “We have
never performed the same show twice,” says
Tamulevich, “Each night is its own unique moment,
unique audience. For us, that is the exciting thing, the
magic: to craft a shared experience and leave people
entertained and moved and with moments and songs
they will take away with them and remember, ponder,
rediscover; hopefully for years to come.” Many of
those moments are the result of their well-respected
and broad body of original material, written both
individually and together.
“We take our writing very seriously.” says Tamulevich,
“No matter if it is a serious or humorous song. A song
is a tool to communicate a feeling or a story, and we
want it to be as sharp and finely focused as we can
make it. It is a challenge that we happily embrace.
Cuz ‘n’ Bone
Opening for Mustard’s Retreat will be folk club
members, Cuz ‘n’ Bone, blending guitars, banjo and
harmony vocals to put a unique spin on songs both old
and new.. The musical paths of Scott Griffith (Cuz)
and Michael Beumer (Bone) first collided
Northwestern where experimental muddling of
bluegrass and other assorted acoustic stylings
resulted in a self-proclaimed pioneering of a submicro-genre aptly called "bumblefolk." Following a
brief 25-year hiatus to resolve psychological issues,
Cuz ‘n’ Bone is once again mashing folk and twang into
their familiar hybrid take on old and new songs.
Ruth & Max
Bloomquist
(October 18, 2015)
www.ruthbloomquist.com
Ruth and Max Bloomquist have been making
music together since they met in 1975 and
discovered their shared love not only for each
other, but for music and songs made with
acoustic instruments and featuring lyrics
from the heart. Ruth and Max immersed
themselves in folk, bluegrass, country, singer
songwriters, and other acoustic music to
create a sound and style all their own.
From the beginning, Ruth was inspired to
write songs from her own heart and
experience. In 1997 Ruth and Max released
Ruth’s first CD, Jewel Of My Heart, a
collection of original songs that were popular
with their audiences. Two more “solo” CDs
followed to rave reviews. Meanwhile, in 2003,
Ruth was a winner of Merlefest’s Chris Austin
Song Writing Competition with her joyful
Gospel song, By The River. Ruth’s songs have
also been recognized by the South Florida
Folk Festival, the Great Lakes Songwriting
Contest, the Lake Superior Big Top
Chautaqua, and Mike Pinder’s Songwars. Ruth
has lead songwritng workshops at the
Wheatland Music Festival and the WMO
Spring Traditional Arts Weekend, has
showcased her songs at the IBMA World of
Bluegrass, and has assisted Bluegrass
Songwriter Committee head Louisa Branscomb
in bluegrass songwriter song circles. Ruth
was named Outstanding Vocalist of the Month
for December 2006 by Singer Universe
Magazine.
Moonshine
Opening for Ruth and Max Bloomquist will be
"Moonshine", consisting of Folk Club members
Margie Dziadzka, Pete Dziadzka, Ray Kaiser,
and Alfredo Urbe. Margie's vibrant vocals
will be backed by Moonshine in an eclectic mix
of pop, blues and originals.
