MADISON CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL JAGUAR BAND 2016 – 2017 Dear Jaguar Band Members, IT’S ALMOST BAND CAMP TIME! I know you are ready for those hot summer rehearsals, so get outside! You need to arrange your work schedules NOW concerning band camp. WORK AND VACATIONS ARE NOT EXCUSES TO BE ABSENT! The first day of Band Camp, you will need: 1. BAND FEE ($200 TOTAL). T-shirts & Uniforms will NOT be handed out until fees are paid! 2. DRUG TESTING CONSENT FORM. You must have one to participate in Band. If you are new to the program, you will need to pick one up the first day of Band Camp. This directive is mandatory through the Madison County School Board. 3. INSTRUMENT, LYRE, & FLIP FOLDER. School-owned instruments (marching French horns & baritones) should be picked up before Band Camp, so you can begin practicing. *Instruments may be picked up on Wednesday—Thursday, July 20&21, between 9 AM and Noon. 4. COMFORTABLE CLOTHES. (School appropriate shorts & t-shirts – it’s going to be hot!). Also, wear tennis shoes (no flip-flops or sandals will be allowed). Students will be given time to change clothes before and after all rehearsals that occur during the school day. 5. CAMEL PACKS and WATER BOTTLES are not required, but are strongly encouraged. Water will be provided to the Band during each break. 6. MC BAND MEDICAL RELEASE FORM – This form must be notarized and turned in the first day of band camp. JAGUAR BAND MEMBERS SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE. Pay attention to rehearsal times/dates, BE ON TIME!!! BAND CAMP DATES: Full Band July 21, 9-11:00am – Leadership Camp July 18-22 Percussion Camp 8am-5pm July 18-22 Guard Camp 9am-5pm July 25-29 Summer Band Camp 7:30am-11:30am 1:30pm-5:00pm July 29 2016 Marching Jaguar Band Preview 6:00pm BAND CAMP IS ALWAYS HOT! IF YOU HAVE BEEN A COUCH POTATO ALL SUMMER, YOU SHOULD PREPARE FOR BAND CAMP AND THE HEAT BY: 1. 2. 3. 4. Getting outside some during the day. Getting some exercise. Start walking or running every day. Drinking plenty of liquids – Bring some Gatorade or Powerade to camp. Eating breakfast before you come to band camp. THIS WILL HELP PREVENT FAINTING! We suggest large muffins, pancakes, peanut butter on whole wheat – complex carbs. 5. Sunscreen! Sunscreen! Sunscreen! Symphonic Band Concert Dress The Symphonic Band I will be wearing concert dress. This means that the boys will need to purchase a tuxedo, and the girls will need to purchase a long black dress. In order to ensure a uniform look, the attire will be ordered through the band. The cost will be $130 for the boys and $75 for the girls. Please feel free to contact a graduate to discuss purchasing their concert attire. Money due by November 1. BAND SHOES ALL of you will need to have a pair of BLACK band shoes. The cost is $47.50. During band camp on July 28 at 1:00pm, a representative will be here to measure all students needing marching shoes/guard shoes. PAYMENT MUST BE MADE ON THAT DAY CHECKS MADE OUT TO MCHS BAND BOOSTERS. Socks must be worn on measuring day. The shoes will be delivered to the band hall in 2—3 weeks. DC – Madison Central and Rosa Scott Madison Central Jaguar Band Booster Budget This is to show you how we get our operating budget and where your money is spent. INCOME SOURCES: EXPENDITURES: DISTRICT LOCAL BAND BOOSTERS New equipment, travel, festival fees, music, instrument repair Travel, state & district fees Out of state travel, T-shirt, rehearsal outfit, meals, new equipment, guard & percussion supplies, charter buses, office supplies, show copyrights, drill and music writing, concert music, clinic fees, awards, uniform travel bags, one pair of gloves We estimate the band expenses by assessing each student $200. You may pay cash, write a check payable to Jaguar Band Boosters or pay by credit card online using the Charms system. **The checks will not be deposited until August 1.** Hot Weather Uniform The performance uniform for the first five football games will be the show t-shirt, knee length khaki colored shorts, and tennis shoes worn with socks. The shorts must be knee length for both boys and girls. No exceptions will be made. Shirts will be worn tucked in. Please prepare now so there will not be an issue for our first performance at the Madison County Jamboree on August 12.
