Bridgeport Series 1 MachTach Install Alex Symington YUCK! Head needs a rebuild so this is where I will put the Hall sensor. Magnets installed underneath the flywheel The Back gear operates by moving the flywheel up and down. The springs press against the large washer which sits under the flywheel. The washer doesn’t rotate with the flywheel but had nothing to lock it in place so I added a 1/16 pin (see arrow) The Hall Effect sensor is mounted to a delrin disk Press fit into the washer. I used clear potting epoxy to keep it in place and insulate the leads. A piece of aluminum tubing protects the wires and brings them safely out the front of the housing A little bit of JB Weld to hold it in place. Heat shrink keeps grease out of the tube and protects the wires. View from underneath the flywheel. Wires are looped to reduce stress from moving up and down I separated the board and connected it with ribbon cable. As seen, the cable is way too long and was difficult to install To alleviate this issue, I cut the cables and added plugs to make installation and removal easier. Also note I removed the power plug and replaced the sensor connector with header pins. There was a clearance issue with the vari-speed chain. You can also see the slots in the housing I made to send the wires through so they aren’t visible when the cover is installed. Grease Packed and ready to go! New Front Panel was 3D SLA Printed then Sprayed with silver Wrinkle paint Vari-Speed Cover cutout and Painted Board mounted and covers painted. Power wire is run to the back of the machine and out a slot in the belt cover Finished
