The goal is to transform a flat sheet of paper into a finished sculpture, without the use of glue, cutters or scissors. It is a mathematical puzzle, a creative pass-time and a stress-buster. There are many types of Origami eg. ‘Living Origami, Wet Folding, Action Origami, Tessellations and Modular Origami Polyhedra’. In this workshop emphasis shall be given to architectural or geometrical Origami and the study of different types of polyhedra, i.e. Platonic or Archimedean solids like Tetrahedrons, Dodecahedrons, Octahedrons, Icosahedrons, Anti-prisms, Di-pyramids and certain complex Carbon Atom structures and Bucky Balls. The course not only requires but will also improve patience, perfection and concentration, especially the ‘Modular Origami’ that requires using multiple sheets of paper and then assembling them together.
