Y Ready, Set, READ!
Read the passage. Then answer the questions.
Do you like trying different kinds of foods? Do you enjoy writing?
If so, you might be interested in what a food writer does. Food writers
eat at restaurants and write reviews of the meals. They describe what
they like and what they don’t. People read the reviews
to help them decide whether to visit—or avoid—
a restaurant.
Good food critics have to know a lot about
ingredients, foods, cooking, and serving. Above all,
food critics have to be good writers. They endeavor
to describe tastes and textures clearly and in a way
that makes readers hungry.
People who read food reviews want to know
which dishes the reviewer likes best. They like to learn about a chef’s
specialties. They want to know what the restaurant looks like or how
noisy it is. They want to know whether they have to call ahead to get
a table, or whether they can just drop in and start chowing down.
