The Foodservice division includes restaurants, workplaces, cafeterias, healthcare organizations, movie theaters, schools and universities, etc. This division sells our products by leveraging marketing equipment, which includes vending machines, fountain machines, and coolers. FOODSERVICE AND MARKETING EQUIPMENT INNOVATION PepsiCo has formed a team focused on exploring new and emerging technologies which could create new opportunities for customers and consumers alike. Opportunities designed to enhance both existing business models as well as the consumer experience. PepsiCo has several million coolers and fountain dispensers globally. The main functions of the cooler are keeping the beverage products cold until purchase and showcasing the product. The main function of the fountain dispenser is to provide a ready-to-serve beverage, generally with ice, for immediate consumption. Consumers have tremendous options when it comes to beverages. They are increasingly seeking more engaging, dynamic brand experiences in retail and foodservice outlets. Further, PepsiCo is constantly seeking ways to optimize its operation, reduce working capital, and drive sales. PepsiCo has an opportunity to be a leader in the equipment innovation space by increasing the functionality of our existing cooler and fountain dispenser assets. BUSINESS CASE CHALLENGE The objective of this business case challenge is to explore and identify technologies, features and operational models which enable PepsiCo to leverage the existing asset base of coolers and fountain dispensers in market, to improve: oo Business performance: PepsiCo and its customers look for every opportunity to remove cost and increase efficiency end-to-end to maximize ROI, in addition to increasing sales oo Customer retention: Provide customers with the right equipment and products to boost traffic and sales and build stronger partnerships oo New business win rate: providing equipment that meets and exceeds customers’ expectations while providing suitable alternatives to competitive offerings to win new customers oo Consumer engagement and purchase decisions: Consumers are increasingly looking for interaction with their favorite brands, flexible payment options, variety, and convenience The scope for this case competition is limited to the beverage side of the business.
