Spelling: Related Words from the story Ghost Town. Related words often have parts that are spelled
the same but are pronounced differently: major, majority
Test on Friday morning
Reading: The students will continue reading The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett. We will
read chapters 7-9 this week as well as starting the next unit, chapters 10-18. Please ask your children to
show you their vocabulary power points. They need to begin studying them for their test next week.
Vocabulary test next Thursday
Math: The students will continue studying Fractions. The students will work on multiplying fractions
with whole numbers, multiplying mixed numbers and whole numbers and mutliplying mixed numbers.
Test on Thursday
English: The children will write their D.A.R.E. essays and learn about adverbs.
Test on Friday? I don’t know if we will have time enough on Friday. If not, we will take it the following
Monday.
Science: Our solar system. The 8 planets in our solar system. What are asteroids, comets, etc.
Social Studies: The students will compare and contrast their country’s information with the rest of the
class. They will also begin to study the countries of Central Africa by learning the political map of Central
Africa.
Political Map Test on Central Africa next Thursday?
Religion: the Book of Exodus featuring the story of Moses
