This is mainly a checkpoint in the semester to ensure that things are running smoothly and, if not, to

Please do not hesitate to contact Denise with any urgent issues that may arise.

FYS Success Story!
Greetings from Saint Pierre!
My name is Deirdre Guillemette and I am
currently studying French through Memorial
University’s Frecker Program at the Francoforum
in Saint Pierre. Last year I began my post secondary
studies by enrolling in MUN’s First Year Success
Program. This provided me with a great overview
on the university, my career options and guidance
for my academic goals. I appreciated all the
assistance given to me by professors and advisors.
It really helped me decide where I wanted to go
with my studies and a plan on how to get there!

In addition to my 5 courses, the Frecker Program
keeps me very busy. I've visited L’Ile aux Marins
and Miquelon, been to the museum, played sports
and been on fishing and hiking trips. There are a lot
of small stores here but things are often expensive.
I live with a host family and with two other
students. Speaking French in and out of class time
is really beneficial to my goal of teaching French.
Thanks First Year Success Program!
