Located off Hwy 304 in beautiful Central Texas, the Retreat provides visitors a "home way from home" atmosphere. Guests can enjoy the relaxing environment for a weekend stay with friends or family, or take in this perfect setting for a corporate or family event. Longhorns wander from pasture to pasture, stopping at either the catfish tank (pond) or the bass tank (pond). Take a walk with them....they love people! Or, ride around in "the Green Machine"....the quietest of golf carts that lets you tour the ranch, stopping to visit with cows and horses, butterflies and birds, flowers and trees....and so much more that nature has to offer! Guest accommodations include 3 bedrooms/2 baths in the Main House, as well as a separate "casita" which includes a small kitchenette and private bathroom. They also have a “doggie condo” for pets in a large fenced area. Start your day on the porch with coffee, listening to the birds. Sit outside by the pool, or stay cool in the screened-in porch. Guests can also visit nearby Bastrop or Smithville....so much to see! At night, everyone can enjoy s'mores over the fire ring and listen to the night sounds....and see that the stars at night ARE bigger and brighter, here in the heart of Texas. Large groups (50-75) may choose to use the barn for family gatherings and parties. And, we can direct you to professional party and meeting planners who can help make your event something special to remember. This is the perfect place for your function with family and friends, or corporate events. Better yet, come to the Ribbon Cutting and Reception on June 15th (for details, see the “What’s Happenin’…” listing.) Due to the lack of accessible emergency/urgent medical care in the Bastrop region, Dr. Ashish Singhal M.D. and Tommy Laird, PA-C have decided to bring their expertise to this area by opening Texan Urgent Care clinic in Bastrop. They are conveniently located in the Burleson Crossing Retail Center near Lowe's. Texan Urgent Care is a walk-in urgent care clinic which is open 365 days a year and is the first of its kind in this area. There is no need to take off from work as they are open weekends and extended after-hours. No appointments taken, as all patients are seen on a walk-in basis. The clinic's goal is to provide quality, skilled, thorough, and readily available care to the population of Bastrop and surrounding communities in an urgent care setting. They will provide emergency room care at urgent care prices, saving patients up to 70% off of emergency room medical costs and co-payments. However, if the patient has a true medical emergency, the staff is trained to stabilize them and activate the 911 EMS system to ensure prompt transfer to an appropriate level of care. At Texan Urgent Care, each patient is evaluated and treated as a unique individual to be treated with dignity and compassion. Top-notch staff specialize in treating minor injuries and illnesses such as upper respiratory infections, sore throats, eye/ear infections, fractures, lacerations, abscesses, allergic reactions, urinary tract infections, asthma attacks, and much more. They can also handle the initial acute occupational injury (on the job injury/accident) offering the local business owners a viable, cost effective means to cover their employee’s injuries or illnesses. To complement this wide variety of services they also provide diagnostic and preventative services which include lab work, x-rays, pregnancy tests, vaccinations, DOT certification, drug testing, pulmonary function tests, physicals and the hCG weight loss program which can help you lose 1-2 pounds a day in a safe manner. Despite the extremely wide range of medical care, if the patient is experiencing a true medical emergency (stroke, chest pain, severe trauma, etc.) they should call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. Texan Urgent Care is not here to replace the emergency room, but to help alleviate the overwhelmed ER’s and decrease overall medical costs associated with ER visits. See NEW MEMBER, page 4 Page 4 bastropchamber.com Continued from page 3 They also do not intend replacing your local primary physician, only fill the gap when your primary care doctor is unavailable. In an effort to show their support and dedication to the Bastrop Community, they will be offering a special of $35 for local school sport physicals per child. We hope you’ll come to the Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting on June 13th. For more information, please call 512-6191751 or see their website at www. texanurgentcare.com. PHI Air Medical has been here in Bastrop County since November 2010, although they’ve been in business since 1949. You’ve probably noticed their yellow & black American Eurocopter EC 135, which is one of most sophisticated aircraft available. The EC135 has the latest in navigation equipment including two GPS units, weather radar, full-function autopilot, ground avoidance systems and night vision goggles for use by the crew. The helicopter is staffed with a pilot, a flight paramedic and a flight nurse. Each of the pilots has an average of 7000 flight hours and the medical crew averages 25 years of experience. The helicopter is set up as a flying intensive care unit featuring an array of life saving medications, ventilator, IV pumps and cardiac equipment to handle any emergency. In addition the crew is one of the very June 2011 few programs in the entire country to be privileged to carry blood on every flight. The helicopter is requested to respond to a variety of medical emergencies including direct response to the scene of an emergency and to move patients from one hospital to another. So, give their “Membership Guy”, Mark Cacioppo, a call at 888-435-9744; or stop by their base at 252B Union Chapel Rd in Cedar Creek. They would love to show you their base and helicopter. Locally, Woodmen of the World members and associates in Texas help create a better tomorrow by showing pride in community and country. They organize community events, patriotic programs and activities, provide relief to members suffering from the effects of natural disasters, conduct food and clothing drives, organize community clean-ups, DNA/fingerprinting services for children, and other communityfocused volunteer work. For generations, families have placed their trust in Woodmen of the World, a trust that is bolstered through strong financial performance. For more information, please call 979-836-8232 or see their website at www.wood men.org Mueller, Inc, a leading manufacturer of steel buildings and metal roofing, has expanded into a new facility in Bastrop, Texas. This branch offers a variety of metal building materials including complete pre-engineered metal building kits and residential metal roofing, plus accessories and structural steel components. The new 15,000 sq. ft. facility, located at 1455 Hwy 71 W, just west of Bastrop, is managed by Greg Morris. “We are proud to be a part of the Bastrop community and look forward to helping the people of this area fulfill their commercial building, barn, garage, workshop and residential roofing needs,” said Morris. Mueller, Inc. was originated in 1937 by Walter F. Mueller and was operated as “Mueller Sheet Metal Company” in Ballinger, Texas. In that era, Mueller was primarily known as a manufacturer of metal water cisterns. The quality and craftsmanship of this unique product was carried on for many years. The business remained in the Mueller family until 1984 when it was acquired by the Burly Corporation of Burleson, Texas. Since its acquisition by Burly in 1984, Mueller, Inc. has undergone a dynamic transformation to become the premier supplier of prefabricated steel buildings and residential metal roofing throughout the Southwest. In 1990, Mueller expanded to its first branch location in Midlothian, Texas. Since the opening of this first branch office, additional branches have been added consistently. Mueller now operates three manufacturing facilities with locations in Ballinger, Amarillo and Conroe, Texas. In addition, the company now has 30 full-service sales and distribution centers in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and New Mexico. Mueller’s corporate headquarters remains in Ballinger, Texas. For additional information about Mueller, Inc, visit their website at www.muellerinc.com or better yet stop by for a visit or call 512-308-9173.
