Room Brochure Welcome Designed and built from 1791-1794 by prominent Scottish architect Robert Adam, the Trades Hall of Glasgow is the ancestral home of the Trades House and the 14 Incorporated Trades. Trades Hall is often referred to as ‘The Hidden Gem of Glasgow’ or ‘Glasgow’s Best Kept Secret’. The building was designed and built from 1791-1794 by prominent Scottish architect Robert Adam. It has a unique history with exceptional features and apart from the mediaeval cathedral, is the oldest building in Glasgow still used for its original purpose. Trades Hall can be used for catered or non-catered events and clients can hire one of the five function rooms within the building or any combination of rooms, or even hold an event with exclusive use of the building. Trades Hall is the home of The Trades House of Glasgow and its 14 Incorporated Crafts. The Trades House of Glasgow was established in 1605 and is now a registered charity (SCO 40548). Trades House focuses its support upon deserving causes and individuals across the City of Glasgow through provision of support services, general benevolent work, and donations of more than £600,000 being awarded by the charity and the 14 Incorporated Crafts. All income arising from events held within Trades Hall is used to support the charitable purposes of Trades House and the benevolent work it undertakes. Let your event benefit from the magnificent surroundings, stunning baroque chandeliers, white marble fireplace, historical features and late Victorian decor. A fantastic backdrop for memorable photography, this room on the first floor is an ideal space for small dinners and birthday/anniversary parties. It is also a fantastic meeting room and area for a pre-dinner drinks reception with adjoining door to our Grand Hall. M E ANS O F ES CAP E F O R D I S ABLE D P E RS O NS Disabled persons should make their way or be assisted to the nearest dedicated refuge area. We have two evacuations chairs available should this be necessary. Refuge areas are indicated on the attached location maps. These areas are of a sufficient size to accommodate a wheelchair and to allow the wheelchair user to manoeuvre into the space without undue difficulty. Telephone communications are available at refuge areas (except those outside Grand Hall doors) D U T Y H A LLK EE P E R/ O P ERAT I O NS M A NAG E R The duty Hallkeeper and/or Operations Manager is responsible for the delivery of the staff/contractors/tradesmen’s books to the Fire Officer. The duty Hallkeeper & Operations Manager are responsible for ensuring that the building is cleared in a prompt and orderly manner and will check all meeting rooms and toilets. The staff book and Contractors/Tradesmen’s signing books are located in the entrance foyer at the souvenir cabinet. On vacating the building, all staff and contractors/tradesmen must personally report to the duty Hallkeeper as soon as possible. Also, at this time, any information regarding individuals who are known not to be in the building should be given to the duty Hallkeeper. Once checklists are complete (indicating people who are accounted for personally, accounted for by others or unaccounted for) the duty Hallkeeper will then liaise with the fire officers. At the first set of traffic lights turn right onto Ingram Street, then at the second set of lights turn left onto Glassford Street. You will find the Trades Hall on the right hand side of the street. Queen Street is the closest train station to Trades Hall. When leaving the station, head towards George Square and cross diagonally over the square and continue down Frederick Street. Once you come to Ingram Street turn left at the lights and at the next set of lights turn right onto Glassford St. Parking Unfortunately Trades Hall has no private parking. The most convienient is The Glasshouse NCP car park on Glassford Street (G1 1UG) Trades Hall’s location in the city centre also makes it easily accessible from Central Station The nearest subway station is St Enoch and both are approximately a 10 minute walk away.
