The Game
Bugoids:EXE is a fun action puzzler set in the imaginative
world of the Bugoids™ nano-robots. With gameplay that
calls for fast, but strategic, decisions and state-of-the-art,
yet nostalgic, pixel art, it's a game that will capture the
player on lunch break or for a whole weekend.
The game is controlled by simple, intuitive controls and
has a low learning curve. Just a few button-presses and
the Bugoids™ go into action.
With hardware accelerated 2D-graphics and exploting
programmable graphics hardware through vertex and pixel
shaders, this game combines “old-school” isometric pixel
art with pixel shaders to create a new, unique experience.
There will be a wealth of extra content for the players to
download and enjoy. The game also features a crossplatform editor, by which the players can create their own
content in the Bugoids™ world. This can be downloaded
by other players to further expand their gaming experience.
The Story
Bugoids™ build upon the latest scientific breakthroughs.
These skilfully engineered nano-robots are created for
stealth, theft and espionage, playing a very small but very
important role in tomorrow’s global conflicts. Used by the
largest intelligence agencies, as well as rougue agents,
the Bugoids™ can steal and sabotage anything from topsecret government files to DNA-molecules.
Controlling a Bugoid™ is not an easy task. It takes a fully
synchronized pilot with out-of-this-world reflexes and
hand-eye coordination. Only the world’s best and
toughest qualify to command the nano-robots. Not only
does the Bugoid™ have to avoid traps, electrical surges
and navigate millions of otherwise treacherous square
millimeters of silicon chipsets, it must also avoid hostile
nano-robots to succeed.by other players to further expand
their gaming experience.

Statement of
Dr. Andin E. Fubik:
"Bugoids invention are of Dr. Andin E. Fubik. Stemming
directly from his revoluzie scientific reseach into field
pertaining to nano-interest, having developed electroslingshot, nano-ped, nano-hover, nano-radar also nanocam and further.
Implemented obviously in Bugoids, the lovely insect-like
nano-robots. All people, all world, invited cordially testing
the present technology in development peacefully.
Exclusive contract to Redikod AB given, not forever.
Brilliant scientist not easily recognized widely, silly childish
militarie misunderstandings having been in weapons
mishap cover-up. Corrective action taken in Fubik-Redikod
now visible co?peration.
This statement to publish at Redikod internet, on printed
matters, in no change, no deletion, just exactly."
The Play
A Bugoids:EXE level consists of an isometric map, where
obstacles, power-ups, hostile nano-robots and goals and
exits are placed. To succeed, the player must move his
Bugoid™ around on the level, collect the vital power-ups,
complete the mission and escape through the exit.
Due to radio and microwave frequency interference,
missions in the Bugoids:EXE electronics environments
require the player to pre-program his Bugoid™ by a series
of arrow, or direction commands. The player drops one of
a limited set of direction commands onto the level. When
the Bugoid™ reaches the arrow, it will turn in the arrow's
direction and then keep moving. This is the only way a
player can control his Bugoid™, due to the interference. A
level normally has a fixed number of pre-defined arrows
that the player can place onto the level. Hostile nanorobots also follow the arrow directions, giving the preprogramming further depth.
Before a level is activated there's given time frame for the
player to consider his strategy on the playing field and to
place his commands. After the time frame has passed, the
level is ”live” and everything starts moving.
In order to get the maximum score for a level, the player
must use a minimum of arrows, gather all power-ups and
do it in record time. There are secrets and unlockables in
the game, opening further game modes, more levels and
new types of commands.
Further developments
The coming multiplayer games – Bugoids:DUEL and
Bugoids:MP – challenge players to face another or
several player-controlled Bugoids™ head-to-head, in
action-packed multiplayer settings. Players can either fight
each other strategically, or against the clock, in
“deathmatch”, “king of the hill” or “capture the flag” type
action.
Bugoids:MOD will allow players to modify the game by
building custom Bugoids™ and constructing new levels
and then share these with friends.
Bugoids:CODE will let the players program the Bugoids™
they build and send them off on world tours. By a
combination of player scripting and genetic algorithms, the
game will in a sense start modifying itself.
The global high-score list, for single- and multiplayer
games, honours the best and fastest players in the world.
It includes buddy lists, ladders, invitations and more. The
community further encompasses, chat, game session
“peeking” etcetera.
