Mini-Research Project
Learning Goal: To examine and understand the causes, course, and consequences of the
American Revolution.
SS.8.A.3.6 – Examine the causes, course, and consequences of the American Revolution.
SS.8.A.3.5 – Describe the influence of individuals on social and political developments
during the Revolutionary Era.
Objective: Students will be able to describe key events and the roles of key individuals in the
American Revolution.
Essential Question: How revolutionary was the American Revolution?
Overview: Each group will be assigned an individual who played a role and/or made a
significant contribution during the American Revolutionary War Era. As a group, the students
will research their assigned individual, create a PowerPoint Presentation, and present their
research to the class. Independently, each student will write a research paper on the individual
that their group researched.
Research/Project Guidelines. Your research/project must include the following information:
1. Brief Biography of the Individual
 Name
 Date of Birth (Month, Day, and Year)
 Place of Birth (City, State)
 A brief summary of the individual’s life, circa the American Revolutionary War
Era.
2. Role during the American Revolutionary War
 Describe the individual’s role and/or contribution(s) during the Revolutionary
War Era.
 Describe the significance of the individual’s role and/or contribution(s) during the
Revolutionary War Era.
3. PowerPoint Presentation
