Tickets will be sent to the person who makes the booking. 10.00am extends a warm welcome to all choral singers to this day’s exploration of Ralph Vaughan Williams’ A Sea Symphony. RVW was only 30 when he began this piece in 1903 and it is his first and longest symphony. It premiered at the Leeds Festival in 1910, with the composer conducting. It is one of the few symphonies in which a choir is used throughout the work and is an integral part of the musical texture. With the planned combined choirs performance of A Sea Symphony in Exeter Cathedral on November 25th, we welcome especially any singers from Laurence’s other choirs. Registration and coffee Voice (SATB) Name: The loan of a score of the Sea Symphony is included in the ticket price, but there is a returnable deposit of £10 per score payable at registration. 10.30am - 12.45pm Morning Session (with mid-session refreshment break) 12.45pm - 2.15 pm Break for Lunch Lunch is not provided. The £15 fee covers the refreshments, but not lunch. However, there are pubs and cafés a short walk away from the church, or you could eat a packed lunch upstairs in the Church Hall where coffee and tea will be available. 2.15pm - c. 4.30pm Afternoon Session (with mid-session refreshment break) directs four choirs in Devon and Somerset, is a member of the professional choir at Buckfast Abbey and is active as a freelance soloist and conductor. He read Music at the University of Exeter and later graduated with a Masters degree in choral conducting from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.
