RACE BAG PICK-UP
The Registration and Race Bag Pick-up is located at
IRONMAN 70.3 Italy Race Office in Vittoria Colonna
Museum closed to the Finish Line. Operating hours on
June 07 and 08, from 10:00 am till 06:00 pm. Please
bring a proof of a valid license and a valid photo ID
with you. Athletes without membership in a FITri (Italian
Triathlon Federation) club or equivalent, will be asked
to purchase a daily insurance at the cost of Euro 15,00,
according to the specifications of FITri; this only applies to single starters. According to WTC regulations
Pro-Athletes are required to show a valid pro license
(IRONMAN PRO Card) when signing in.

ATTENTION! - The race chip will be handed out to the athlete after Bike Check-In (Saturday) in the Transition Area.
Race chips and their mountings will be supplied by the
organizer. Athletes have to wear them on the left ankle.
It´s mandatory to wear the Race chip. No chip no timing!
The use of own chips is not allowed. Race chips provided
by the organizer are in responsibility of the athlete. Race
chips will be needed for Bike Check-Out. No chip - No
bike! In case of loss the athlete has to pay a fee of Euro
50,00 per chip.
In the Race Office the athlete will receive:
• athletes wristband used to identify the athlete during
the whole event weekend. The athlete has to wear it on
the wrist.
• 3 coloured Transition Bags, (Individual Athlete)
- blue for bike gear
- red for run gear
- white pre-race / “after race clothing“
The red and the blue transition bags have to be checked
in on Saturday in Transition Area. The white transition
bag can be dropped prior to the swim start on Sunday
in the Athlete’s Garden between 09:00 am - 12:00 pm.
• BIB (race number) / race number stickers
1x for the athlete (BIB - race number). It´s allowed to use
a race number belt.
3x for the bike helmet. Need to be placed on the front,
the left and right side of bike helmet.
1x for the bike. Attach the Bike-Race-Number on the rear
brake cable, gear cable or the seat-post.
3x for all transition bags (blue, red, white)
• SWIM Cap - Athletes have to wear the swim cap provided by the organizer.
IRONMAN 70.3 ITALY, IRON EXPO
The IRONMAN 70.3 ITALY Expo area is located on
Piazza della Rinascita (Piazza Salotto), open on June
7, 8 and 9.

PRE-RACE BRIEFING
The schedule for the Pre-Race Briefing in Italian and English
language is listed on the event schedule. The participation
at the Pre-Race Briefing is mandatory.
The organizer reserves the right to monitor the mandatory
attendance of the pre-race briefing through appropriate
measures. Non-attendance of the pre-race briefing may
lead to exclusion of the athlete from the race.
PASTA PARTY
The Pasta Party takes place on Friday, June 7th, and/or on
Saturday, 8th starting at 07:30 pm. The Carbo Village is
located directly on the beach, close to the Finish Line area.
The entry fee for IRONMAN 70.3 ITALY includes one ticket
for the Pasta Party to choose between Friday or Saturday.
Additional tickets will be available at the entrance of the
“Carbo-Village”(Pay Desk).
BIKE CHECK-IN
The Bike Check-In (bike and helmet) is an obligation. The
Check-In counter at the Transition Area is open June 8,
from 10:00 am till 07:00 pm. Check-In times are obligatory
as shown in the following schedule. At the south entrance
of the Transition Area, we will take a picture of each athlete
and his bike for safety reasons as described in the next
phase of the Bike Check-out. At the exit each participant
will receive a timing chip after signing the consignation.
After the race, during the Bike check-out, the athletes will
return the chip (see Bike check-out). In case of loss, the
athlete will have to pay Euro 50. Start numbers will be
published on www.ironman-italy.com.
The Transition Area will be closed June 8, at 07:00 pm
and won’t be opened until June 9, at 10:00 am. Once
bike and helmet have been checked in, it is not allowed
to remove them off Transition Area anymore. Check-In on
the morning of the race is not possible. The helmet can
be stored at the bike or in the blue transition bag. The
Check-In on Saturday is also obligatory for members of
the IRON Team Relay.
Mandatory for all athletes:
• Bike (bike-race-number attached on the rear brake cable,
gear cable or the seat-post)
• Bike helmet (race number placed on the front, the left
and right side of bike helmet)
• BIB (race number)
• Race Chip ticket
• Blue transition bag - has to be marked with the race number; the blue bag contains the personal Bike gear. After
the race the blue bag is accessible to the athlete; the blue
bag must be placed on the transition bag-rack.
• Red transition bag has to be marked with the race number.
The red bag contains personal run gear (running shoes!!!)
and must be placed in the Transition Area on the bag-rack.
On race day the red bag is accessible to the athlete.
• White - Pre-Race bag for personal equipment - The white Pre-Race bag contains clothing and personal stuff that
will be needed after the race. The white bag has to be
deposited in the Athlete’s Garden near the Finishline, on
Sunday, June 09 - operating hours 09:00 am - 12:00 pm
and can be picked-up after the race.
Remember: NO TRANSITION BAGS - NO BIKE CKECK-IN
Note: Bike shoes have to be mounted on the pedals
or stored in the blue transition bag. Only athletes and
IRONMAN staff have access to the Transition Area. Family
members (including children) are, for insurance reasons,
not allowed in the Transition Area. Once bike and helmet
have been checked-in, it is not allowed to remove them
off Transition Area any more. Check-in on morning of
race is not possible. Transition Area will be observed by
video. Bike check-in available from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm
on Saturday, for all categories available.
BIKE SERVICE
A service point near Transition Area / Bike Check-In provides bike support including air-pumps before the race.
Operating hours are June 7 and June 8 from 10:00 am
till 07:00 pm. Private air-pumps might be used, the organizer is not responsible for these pumps. A Bike service is
available along the Bike Course.
TRANSITION BAGS
At Race Bag Pick-Up all athletes will receive three coloured
bags (gear bags): white, blue and red.
WHITE - Pre-Race bag for personal equipment.
The white Pre-Race bag contains clothing and personal stuff
that will be needed after the race. The white bag has to
be deposited in the Athlete’s Garden near the Finishline,
before the race, to be picked-up after the race. Operating
hours on Sunday: 09:00 am - 12:00 pm.
BLUE - for bike gear
RED - for run gear “including running shoes”
The red and the blue transition bags have to be checked
in on Saturday in Transition Area. All the bags have to be
marked with the race number stickers. Athletes receive their
personal race number stickers together with their race bag.
SUN AND WEATHER
Sunrise time on June 9, is 05:35 am, sunset time is 08:44
pm. The average daytime temperature in June is 22° - 30°C.
Up-to-date weather details are available on the internet
www.ilmeteo.it. Referring to the expected temperatures, we
recommend the use of sunscreen lotion and headgear on
the Run Course.
SWIMSTART
On the way to the swim start every athlete has to cross a
timing mat; the timing chip will be registered/activated,
that means that the athlete is „in the race“. The swim
start will take place in start groups. The start groups have
differently coloured swim caps. The swim start will take
place in start groups between 12:00 pm and 01:00 pm.
The start group shave differently colored swim caps. The
athletes will leave Transition Area and gather in the PreStart area 25 minutes before their respective start times.

Athletes have to enter the Swim Course through the official
swim entrance. The swim course is one lap, starting from
the cliffs in the water. Athletes not starting in their assigned
start group will be disqualified. Wearing socks during the

during the swim, no swimsuits with percentage of rubber
and/or neoprene are allowed. Athletes who wear glasses
can store them on a table at swim start/exit. For the identification (BIB number) of the glasses, the athlete is personally
responsible. Swim Cut Off-time: 1 hours 10 minutes
TRANSITION SWIM - BIKE
The blue transition bag contains personal bike gear and
will be picked up in Transition Area 1 after swim exit. The
athlete has to change the clothes in the transition tent.
The athlete has to pick-up the blue bag on the transition bag
rack. The athlete has to drop the blue transition bag (including the swim gear) in the area marked as “drop-off area “.
Leaving T1 Cut Off-time: 1 hours 20 minutes
BIKE
The bike portion is a time-trial for each single athlete. The
bike course is totally closed for public traffic. IRONMAN
70.3 ITALY, Pescara security staff, under police supervision,
might operate pedestrian/car crossings at certain positions
along the bike course. The race will not be affected by
the crossings. The athlete himself is responsible to stop at
the very next penalty box following the infringement. The
first penalty box is located in Nocciano. Penalty Box No.
2 is located in Transition Area 2. The exact position of
the penalty box will be described in the PreRace Briefing.
Additionally they will be marked distinctly. The Bike Course
provides two fully equipped aid stations and one equipped
with water. 1st and 2nd aid station: Water and PowerBar
SportsDrink ISO ACTIVE, all in sport bottles. Also halved

PowerBar Energize Bars (offered in the wrapping), PowerGel. The exact locations of the aid stations are described
in the course map. A detailed sequence of food and drinks
is shown in the illustration, please see the graphical representation. Mobile bike support along the Bike Course is
guaranteed by two service vans. The official Bike-Service
provides only technical support (no spare tires). Cut Offtime after Swim and Bike: 7 hours (after the first Race Start).
After completing the Bike Course, volunteers will assist with
directions. Athletes will pick up the red bag containing their
run gear from the rack in Transition Area 2. It’s allowed to
change clothes inside the transition tent only. Put your bike
gear into the red bag and leave it in the tent. Our staff will
take care of the bag and store it for you. Penalty Box No. 2
is located at the entrance of the Transition Area 2 and must
be sought if necessary.

The Run Course is a 4 loop course. Due to fairplay and safety
the Run Course is open for athletes only. Any mobile accompanying is forbidden. For visual control you will always
receive a wristband when finishing one loop. You have to
wear these wristbands fully visible at any time. Entering
the finish chute is allowed with the four differently coloured
wristbands only. Staff members will show you the way to
the Finish Line when you leave the loop course. Signs will
also indicate the right way. There are NO penalty boxes on
the Run Course. If an athlete receives a penalty on the Run
Course, the BIB-Numer will be marked right away. A timepenalty as a result of a second yellow card, will be added
to the finish time. The Run Course provides two Aid Stations
on one side, each station with: water, PowerBar SportDrink
ISO ACTIVE, Coke diluted with water (all in cups), halved
bananas, apples 1/8, oranges 1/8, lemons 1/8, halved
PowerBar Bars (offered in the wrapping), PowerGel, cakes
und crackers. A detailed sequence of food and drinks is
shown in the illustration, please see the graphical illustration.
MEDICAL SUPPORT
During the race, doctors and first aid personnel will attend the SWIM Course, each aid station along the BIKE
Course and the RUN Course. When crossing the Finish
Line every athlete is taken care of by the Finish Area
Team. A doctor will check the physical condition. Afterwards a member of the Finish Area Team will lead the
athlete to the Athlete’s Garden. Please obey to the orders
of the medical staff at any time. Since hot summer weather
is expected it is necessary to drink plenty of water during
the race and after the finish. Every competitor must have
an own individual health insurance which covers medical
treatment in case of serious injury or illness as well as a
possible stay in a hospital.
DOPING TESTS
For all professionals athletes see the regulations
of the IRONMAN Pro Membership. In the case
an age group athlete has to go to a doping test
and is taking medicine please check http://fitri.it/
data/2012/20121220_163450_1.pdf. The medical
certificate has to be shown prior the race. A late filing is
not possible (we recommend to store the document in the
white transition bag).
SUMMARY CUT OFF-TIMES
The following cut off times apply for the different race
portions beginning at the start time and for the entire race:
Swim: 1 hours 10 minutes
Leaving Transition 1: 1 hours 20 minutes
Swim and Bike: 7 hours after the first Race Start
Swim, Bike and Run: 8 hours after the last Race Start
If you do not finish the different portions within these times
you have to stop racing. The race is over at 09:00 pm.
Athletes crossing the Finish Line after 09:00 pm will not
be listed in the official results. Road closures, Safety - and
Security precautions will end at 08:00 pm! If you do have
to stop the race at any point before the Finish Line you have
to inform a race marshal. Please confirm that you have
stopped the race when entering the next transition area.
ATHLETE´S GARDEN
Regenerate and relax in the Athlete’s Garden of the
IRONMAN 70.3 Italy. The Athlete’s Garden is located close to the Finish Line at Piazza Primo Maggio.
The Athlete’s Garden offers separate shower facilities,
changing rooms, as well as regeneration massage and
medical support. A large buffet will be provided within
the Carbo Village directly after the Finishline. Additional
tickets will be available at the entrance of the Carbo
Village. The entrance to the Athlete’s Garden is free of
charge for athletes but limited to athletes and staff members with explicit permission only. Journalists will have
the opportunity to interview the competitors on their way
from the Finish Line to the Athlete’s Garden (so-called
“Mixed Zone”) if they agree.
FINISHERSHIRTS, MEDALS
AND CERTIFICATES
Every Finisher will receive a medal after crossing the
finish line. The Finisher shirt will be handed out in the
Athlete´s Garden (Please show race number!). The certificate (showing finish time and rank) will be available
for download at www.ironman-italy.com.
POST RACE PRESS CONFERENCE
The Post Race Press Conference of the IRONMAN 70.3
ITALY takes place on Race Day, at 6:00 pm, at the Conference Hall / Vittoria Colonna Museum. We kindly invite
the first three women and men to attend this press conference and to be present at 05:45 pm latest.
BIKE CHECK-OUT
Operating hours on race day, from 07:00 pm till 10:00 pm.
The organizer’s liability for bikes ends at 11:00 pm. Bikes
are returned in exchange for the race-chip. Bikes won’t be
returned if athlete is not able to show his race-chip and/or
a valid identity card/passport, if the chip got lost. Personal
belongings that have been left in the Transition Areas can
be picked up separately by showing the race-number and a
valid picture-ID/passport, if the athletes is not going to pick
up the equipment himself. Once the athlete has left the Bike
Check-out, claims of damage or loss of material won’t be accepted any more. Transition Area will be observed by video.
AWARDS PARTY SLOT ALLOCATION
IRONMAN 70.3 WORLD
CHAMPIONSHIP IN LAS VEGAS
The “Awards Ceremony” takes place Sunday June 9th, at
09:30 pm at the Carbo Village on the beach. The slot allocation will begin at about 10:00 pm. Trophies and prizes
are handed out personally only. Trophies and prizes which
have not been picked up will expire. Athletes who have
qualified for IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship in Las
Vegas, have to be present personally for slot allocation at
09:30 pm latest; Valid picture ID needed / bring with you.
The qualification fee for the World Championship has to
be paid on the spot in cash, Euro only! Final assessment
for Euro (US $ 350,00) will be published in the race week.
No checks and no credit cards accepted. The allocation
of slots for the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship Las
Vegas 2013 will be published in the race office.
RESULTS
To determine the final race results there will be a session
of a court of arbitration the day of the race in the time
between 09:30 pm and 10:00 pm. Venue will be the
place of the awards ceremony. The court of arbitration
consists of following persons:
- the Race Director of the race or a personally named and
determined deputy person - the Chief Race-Marshall of
the race or a personally named and determined deputy
person -a Person with the qualification of judgeship. The
court of arbitration determines the race results subject to
the final results of the doping test. An objection can be
filed on race day latest until 09:30 pm at finish line (Race
Director) after paying EURO 50.
The decisions are binding and juristic unappeasable.

LOST & FOUND
Personal belongings which are unmarked and/or have
been left in the Transition Area, Have to be picked up June
9, till11:00 pm in the Athlete´s Garden.
IRON RELAY TEAM
One team in the Iron Team Relay consists of 3 athletes.
The decision which team member swims / bikes / runs
has to be made when picking up the Race bag in the
Race Office at the latest. All athletes have to sign the
application. The athletes must be at least 18 years of
age. The bike has to be checked in to Transition Area
on the Saturday before the race. On Sunday morning the
Relay Team members will bring the gear bags into the
Athlete’s Garden.Operating hours on Sunday morning:
09:00 am - 12:00 pm. The race chip serves as the baton,
the swimmer will give it to the cyclist at the team bike in
Transition Area, who also wears the race number. The
runner waiting in Transition Area will then receive both
race chip and number from the cyclist.
