T h e s e differences can be associated with the quality a n d use of the b a t t e r y a n d its c e l l s . A n o p t i c a l t a c h o s e n s o r is f i t t e d t o t h e r i g h t s i d e M e g a M e t e r c a s e a n d is a c t i v a t e d b y pointing M e g a M e t e r t o w a r d s the propeller at a distance of 10 a n d 2 0 c m f r o m the propeller. or E S C . • Connect battery to M e g a Meter via Voltage Port to power o n the S p e e d Control ( E S C ) without the need to turn o n your transmitter, a n d y o u d o n o t e v e n n e e d y o u r receiver. Plug a servo into the • P r e s s ' E N T E R ' to start R P M m e a s u r e m e n t s e r v o port. T h e f l u c t u a t i n g l i g h t c a u s e d b y t h e r o t a t i o n o f t h e p r o p e l l e r is s e n s e d and counted over a period of either 1 or 2 seconds. Allow a couple of s e c o n d s for r e a d i n g s to steady. W i t h a g e a r e d m o t o r , t h e m o t o r R P M will n o r m a l l y b e h i g h e r t h a n t h e p r o p . R P M , b u t it is t h e p r o p r p m w h i c h is b e i n g m e a s u r e d a n d q u o t e d , s o t h e g e a r r a t i o is n o t r e a l l y r e l e v a n t . For e x a m p l e , fitting a three b l a d e d propellers, help y o u to e s t i m a t e flight t a k e off d i s t a n c e s , r e c o v e r y f r o m a stall.
