Introduction:
ATP (adenosine 5’-triphosphate, ATP) is the most basic carrier in biological energy conversion in
the body. The change of its content will directly affect energy metabolism of different organs. As
the most important energetic molecule , ATP plays an important role in the procession of cell
physiology and pathology. Change of ATP level can affect the function of many cells. Usually
ATP level will decrease when cells are under a state of apoptosis, necrosis or toxicity. However,
high glucose stimulation can increase the ATP level in cell. Usually a decrease in the level of ATP
shows damage or fall in mitochondrial function.ATP assay kit can be used to detect the ATP level
in the red blood cells or tissue.
