Job Description
0.675, term time only plus 1 week
Temporary for 12 months in the first instance
Salary: Scale 6, points 26 to 28, £23,166 to £24,717 – pro rata (£15,637)
Hours: Term Time plus one week 5 hours a day 8.30 to 1.30
Note: attendance at appropriate Parent’s Evenings will be a requirement
with Time off in Lieu (TOIL)
The job description may include all such other duties as the Head and Governors may
reasonably expect from time to time.
Purposes of the Post
The post will carry four primary functions:

General pastoral support for students in Years 7 to 11
Monitoring and intervention for students with attendance issues
Monitoring and intervention for Pupil Premium Students
General intervention support for students underachieving in more than one
subject area or with behavioural issues. Note this will not require the post holder
to have specific subject knowledge rather to support students to develop the
generic skills required to be successful in school; i.e. personal organisation, time
management, prioritising, social and interpersonal skills etc.
Relationships
1. The post-holder reports to Assistant Headteacher
2. The post-holder interacts with other professional colleagues, should establish and
maintain productive relationships and promote mutual understanding of our aim
to improve the quality of the student experience at Settlebeck School.

Main Responsibilities
Pastoral Care
 General pastoral support for students
monitoring, wellbeing and development
within school
 Manage the system of rewards within the
school and ensure the recognition of all
students who show determined effort and/or
academic or extra-curricular achievement
 Build strong relationships with students and
their families
 Contribute to the regular checking and
effective use of Student Planners
 To ensure the effective communication of
information to all identified parties
 To work with Year 11 students to prepare
for an end of year celebration/Prom
 Acting as first point of reference for issues
relating to student, welfare and behaviour
 Prompt response to parental concerns
 Prompt referral of more serious issues to
Education Social Worker or Assistant Head
as appropriate
 Liaison with outside agencies appropriate to
the role
 Intervening with students requiring support
to help develop generic strategies and skills
required for success in secondary
education
 Management of arrangements for Parents
Consultation Evening, including letter & text
to parents, student appointments, set up
arrangements & refreshments, supported
by the Pastoral Administrator
 Support in interviewing new students

Organisation of work for excluded or
isolated students
 To manage students on report at the
appropriate level
Attendance
 Monitoring students’ attendance and
punctuality
 Where necessary/appropriate to make
home visits with another colleague to
address attendance issues or where
parents find it difficult to get in to school

Liaison with Educational Welfare Officer


Undertake Lead Practitioner role for Early
Help Assessments related to attendance
and medical (non SEN) issues
Pupil Premium
 To maintain up to date records of
Disadvantaged students, monitoring Pupil
Premium spending and the impact on
outcomes
 To work with Pupil Premium students to
support and facilitate appropriate additional
interventions
 To report to SLT on Pupil Premium
outcomes on a ½ termly basis


