FOOD FOR THE NEEDY
Thanks to the generosity of our parishioners and friends, through our monthly Collection for the Poor, many families and individuals, of our area, are receiving some very
much needed assistance, like groceries and money for electricity, water and butane
gas bills. These items are examples of what is provided to families and persons in
need: Flour, Sugar, Oil, Beans, Canned Food, Oatmeal, Pasta, Rice, etc… In the
month of December due to our parishioners and friends’ generosity and kindness, we were able to assist, mostly with groceries, 174 families (377 adults and
196 children), with a total of 573 persons. If you are interested in helping, please
bring donations to our Sunday Masses or the parish office, during office hours (Mon.Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.). Assistance is provided on Mondays, from 10:00 to
11:45 a.m., at our Charity Ministry & Food Pantry Office (IHM School building).
Now we are affiliated to the Rio Grande Valley Food Bank, and hope to serve our community better. For more information, please call our office. May the Lord reward your
generosity and kindness!

This year our Christmas season ends
early, with the Baptism of the Lord
being celebrated tomorrow. That makes today the last Sunday of this
year’s Christmas season. As we gather to hear once again the story of the
magi, le tus reflect on its significance
in our own lives and pray for the grace
to recognize where God is being revealed to us today.
The refrain for our responsorial psalm
sets the tone for today’s readings:
“Lord, every nation on earth will adore
you.” Saint Paul takes upthe message: the Gentiles are co-heirs and copartners in the promise. Isaiah proclaims that “nations shall walk by your
light,” Did the magi come all that way
just to see a little baby? No, they
came to see the salvation of the whole
world. Le tus allow these readings
today to broaden our horizons so that
we see God everywhere, and learn to
show God to everyone in our lives.

pueblos a tu luz”. ¿Hicieron esa larga
travesía los magos sólo para ver al
niño Jesus? No, ellos fueron a ver la
salvación del mundo entero. Dejemos
que las lecturas de hoy abran nuestro
horizonte para que podamos ver a
Dios en todo lugar y aprendamos a
cómo llevarle a Dios a aquellos que
son parte de nuestra vida.
