Virtual Field Trip at the Historic Stranahan House Museum: Mitchell’s Magical Day with Frank and Ivy Stranahan Story time! Join the Stranahan House Educators as they introduce Stranahan House to students. Students will be able to ask questions about the historic home. Join us at the Stranahan House Museum’s parlor for a special story time! We will be reading through the first half of the popular Mitchell’s Magical Day with Frank and Ivy Stranahan and comparing it to the real lives of Frank and Ivy Stranahan. Part 1 of 2. Meet the Stranahans: Ivy Stranahan Pioneer Show and Tell: A Victorian Christmas Celebration Virtual Field Trip at the Historic Stranahan House Museum: Barefoot Mailman Join our Stranahan House Educators as they show students how Frank Stranahan did business with the Seminoles and other locals in the early 1900s. Join us at the Stranahan House Museum’s parlor for a special story time! We will be reading through the second half of the popular Mitchell’s Magical Day with Frank and Ivy Stranahan and comparing it to the real lives of Frank and Ivy Stranahan. Part 2 of 2. Students will get the opportunity to learn about Frank Stranahan and his accomplishments and contributions to the city of Fort Lauderdale Join us as we show students the appliances that Ivy Stranahan had in her kitchen. Students will be able to compare and contrast the appliances that pioneers used to today’s electronics. Join us at the Stranahan House Museum for a special story time! This month we will be reading through Watch Out Ivy, a fictional account of how Ivy Stranahan worked undercover to protect the egrets and their beautiful feathers. Students will get the opportunity to learn about Ivy Julia Cromartie Stranahan and her contributions to the city of Fort Lauderdale. Students will be able to learn about Victorian Christmas traditions and how their customs have evolved over time into today’s Christmas traditions. Come learn about the Barefoot Mailman, the mailman that delivered mail from Hypoluxo to Miami by foot! Join us as we talk about the dangers that these men risked to ensure that residents received their packages before an official mail route was created! Come learn about Ivy and Frank’s personal lives through the words of their niece, Alice Cromartie. Hear how it felt to live at the Stranahan House as a child! Join Mrs. Stranahan as she tours the parlor of the Stranahan House Museum. Students will learn the ways that pioneers entertained their guests when they came for a visit. Join us as we explore the life of the mysterious brother to Frank Stranahan. While very little is known about him, newly discovered letters from Will to his parents help shed light on the personality that is Will Stranahan. Join our educators as they introduce students to Ivy’s sewing room. Students will have the opportunity to learn about how pioneers handcrafted their clothing. Join us at the Stranahan House Museum’s trading post for a special story time series! Join us as we read through the first part of The Last Egret, a fictional account of how one teenager learned the importance of conserving the environment. Part 1 of 3. Join the Stranahan House Educators as they teach students about the life of Henry Flagler, his influence on South Florida and his relationship to the Stranahans. Join us at the Stranahan House Museum’s trading post for a special story time series! Join us as we read through the second part of The Last Egret, a fictional account of how one teenager learned the importance of conserving the environment. Part 2 of 3. Join Mrs. Stranahan as she tells students about the life and accomplishments of her best friend, Annie Beck. Mrs. Beck was one of the first pioneers in Fort Lauderdale. Join Stranahan House educators as they discuss the importance of the New River from the early 1900s to today’s uses of the New River. Join us at the Stranahan House Museum’s trading post for a special story time series!
