Observing systems:
1.
2.
Oceanographyc Buoy “Vida” (from November 2002)
HF Radar (from 2014)
Oceanographyc Buoy:
Air :
 Temperature, Humidity, Wind speed, Wind direction, Wind gusts
Sea:
 Temperature and salinity at the sea surface (depth ~2 m, at the sea floor)
 Waves: Wave height: maximum height, mean direction (azimouth),
mean period
 Currents: measured (from 2 m above sea floor - 21 above sea floor , 20
cells, 30 min average)

Some more ecological parameters are also measured
From May 2008
 O2 concentration
measured at
 Chlorophyll – a
sea surface
PAR (From June 2011 ), CO2 in the air (2012), 1 additional O2 optode at the
bottom (2013)
A marine in situ laboratory
A group of biosensors :
 a multi-modular miniaturized apparatus that will host in a single
unit—the Main Box—a Sampling Module and an Analysis Module.
 Saxitoxin, Okadaic acid, Domoic acid, Palytoxin,Tributyltin, Diuron,
PentaBDPE, Sulphonamides - biotoxins.

HF radar is expected to be installed in 2014.
Data – currents and waves are expected to be available on the
web in near real time on a user defined grid (“HAZADR” - IPA
project) .

Partners of Seadatanet and
MyOcean
We are involved in WP3 of MyOcean where we:
the feedback of the usefulness of MyOcean
Provideproducts
in the National applications (spatial-temporal
data mining),
deliver User Assessment reports,
We
Engaged in external validation system of MyOcean, based
on in situ data and models products provided by

Priorities in 2014-2015:
1.
2.
3.
Data handling after the data collection (quality control procedures, the
use of existing standards - IOC, WMO/JCOMM manuals).
HF radar installation and setup: Integration of the new system to the
MBS network:
•
The study of IT of the radar,
•
Integration and connection to the existing central database,
•
The setup of ETL – (Export-Transform -Load) procedures for
the potential data exchange,
•
Automatisation of procedures.
Buoy “Vida”: All but the meteorological data need additional
automatic QC. It relates to :
•
near real time data and
•
historical data already in existing databases (Seadatanet, CDI)
3-4 December 2013
EMODNET Physics, Adriatic Sea Region Meeting, Split, Croatia
15
There is more:
4.
5.
CTD casts:
•
Data QC for historical datasets already in databases and
•
Automatic QC procedures at CTD acquisition.
For the purposes of the MSFD a database has to be setup and filled
with data and information gathered during the preparation of the
criteria for GES and the preparation of the monitoring program
according to MSFD
In 2014 at least 8 -10 man/month is necessary to accomplish all the
planned work .
