2016 PTA AUCTION
MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL WATERS
Welcome to the 2016 Issaquah Valley Elementary School Auction! We are so
fortunate to have such a beautiful building with an outstanding art room,
decorative fish along the fence and our wonderful kiln that allows children to
create pieces of art to keep with them forever. With our focus on developing
students both academically and to be great citizens, it is important to continue to
live our CULTURE OF KINDNESS.
I hope that you will be generous with your giving tonight so that we can continue to
focus on enriching the offerings that we have at school while also keeping it
beautiful. We still hope to have benches and plants to beautify the courtyard and
new equipment for extra activities at recess.
We all appreciate the partnership with our IVE families. You are amazing people
and I want to genuinely thank you for your support of our school. We are so
fortunate that you help us create this culture of kindness. Thank you for being a
vital part of our school! So, spend, bid, laugh and I wish you luck on getting the
items and the future that fulfills every wish.
Thank you for your support. Enjoy your evening.

MESSAGE FROM THE IVE PTA PRESIDENT
Dear Parent and Friends,
Welcome to the Issaquah Valley Elementary PTA 2016 Auction! Whether you are a parent, family
member, teacher or community member, your presence tonight is a sign of your commitment to the
success of our school. We value your support as we build a Culture of Kindness here at IVE.
The funds we raise tonight are critical to support the PTA’s ongoing programs for the next two
school years. As many of you know, state and federal funding for education continues to be at an
all-time low and that makes this evening’s event even more critical to the success of our students.
With your help tonight, we will be able to continue to provide funding directly to support our children and give them the best educational experience possible. Below is a list of just some of the
items, activities and events that students receive and enjoy due to your generous support:
Classroom Funding: Individual classroom and grade level teacher funding for classroom supplies (portfolios, spelling guides, composition notebooks, etc.), field trip support and special
programs, teaching posters and supplies, specialist funding
Reading Funding: Classrooms book, Levelled Readers Book Room, Library Books, Books for
hitting classroom reading goals
Science Funding: Science to Go, Science guest speakers, Science Fair, Family Engineering Night,
Science to Go, Garden Docent Program
Arts Funding: Art Docent Program (allows all students to experience an art project at least one
a month), Multicultural Night, Reflections (Juried art competition), Hands on Art, Lego Club
Community Events: Trunk or Treat, Family Movie Nights, Popcorn Fridays, Holiday Choir, Variety Show, Bingo Night, Community Outreach (Angel Program), Cougar Lunch Pantry for breaks
All School Funding: Health Room Nutrition and supplies, Emergency Preparedness, Grant Program, PBSES curriculum, tools, supplies and rewards
These programs and events are not funded by the state or district and simply would not exist without your generous support.
The IVE PTA board would like to express a very special thank you to Rebecca Maljak, Erika Peterson
and the rest of our amazing Auction Committee! They have worked countless hours to create this
special event for our school. Without them, this evening would not have been possible. THANKS
TEAM!
The IVE PTA thanks you again for your support and involvement at Issaquah Valley Elementary. We
appreciate your generosity and hope you have a wonderful evening!

ABOUT THE AUCTION
Congratulations! You made it to the Auction. Now what? Well, you found your seat,
you got your catalog and welcome packet. Now, let us walk you through it all.
1. Bidder Numbers—This is the most important thing for the evening. Think of
this as your ID and your credit card. You will use this to pay for everything
tonight and, when you are purchasing something and it asks who you are, you
give them your number. Bring this with you everywhere!
2. Gold Coins—These are for the Art Walk Voting. This year, instead of each
classroom doing an individual art piece for the auction, we had classrooms pair
up and create group projects. But, it’s up to the guests this year to decide which
pieces make it to the Live Auction! So, grab your coins and immediately head
over and drop your coin into the voting box in front of your favorite piece. The
Top five pieces will head into the Live Auction to be bid on! The remaining ten
pieces will become our Art Walk Silent Auction. Don’t worry, you’ll have an
opportunity to bid on all of them!! Voting ends early so please vote before you
head to the Silent Auction.
3. Games, Games and More—Throughout the Silent Auction area, we will have
some fun ways to participate without having to get into a bidding war with your
kids’ classmates. Instead, play the Cork Pull, buy a 50/50 Raffle Ticket or Grab a
Gift Card off the Board! Don’t worry! The Teachers and Volunteers will be there
to walk you through every step. Trust me, you’ll have a great time!
6 | 2016 Issaquah Valley Elementary PTA Auction
4. Silent Auction—Our Silent Auction, which takes place in the Hay Barn (the
smaller room off to the right) will have 3 separate closings. The furthest three
rows will close first, so make sure to check those rows out first and bid on
everything and anything you may want. But, make sure to keep checking
back—you just might have to bid again and again! However, don’t miss out on
those items that have a “Buy Now” price. That means that you don’t have to
keep upping the ante. You can just circle the “Buy Now” final price and, voila,
you own that fabulous gift! Not all items have this option so you’ll have to keep
on your toes. The middle three rows will be our second closing, the final three
rows are in the last closing. Don’t worry, the Auctioneer will announce them
throughout the night. And, they are color coded with balloons too!
5. Art Walk—This is a great opportunity for all of our parents to take home a piece
of their kids’ beautiful art work. With the help of our gifted Art Docent Volunteers,
the classrooms were paired up and created gallery-worthy pieces of art to be
auctioned off. Five beautiful pieces of art will head into our Live Auction and the
remaining ten pieces will become our Art Walk Auction. So, as soon as the
Silent Auction closes, head on over to the Main Barn and wander through the
beautiful Art Walk to see how gifted our IVE kids are!
6. Dinner, Dessert Dash, Fund-A-Need & Live Auction—The rest of the evening
will take place in the Main Barn, with our gifted Auctioneer, Fred Granados. He
will lead us through the buffet, into our Live Auction, walk you through raising
our paddles for our Fund-A-Need, a worthy cause for improving our school, a
mad dash for dessert and all the incredible items we have procured for the Live
Auction. So, get those bidder numbers ready, fill up your drinks and be prepared
to have an evening to remember!!

DASH FOR YOUR DESSERT!
Everyone at your table will have the opportunity to bid on a selection of fabulous desserts.
How does it work? You and your table companions will write your bid amounts on the Dessert
Dash bid sheet on your table. We will collect the bid sheets after dinner. The table with the highest total
bid will be called by the auctioneer and will have the first choice of all the wonderful desserts. The table
with the second highest total bid will choose next, and so on. The tables will be called faster and faster,
creating a mad DASH for the dessert table!
Be sure to check out the desserts before dinner so you know exactly which dessert your selected runner
will dash for! You don’t want to end up with the courtesy plate!!
GROUP BIDDING
Talk to your friends and agree to “bid as one.” This is a great way to bid on a big-ticket items and
experiences. Make sure only one person is doing the bidding. Please remember that the final bid amount
for an auction item will not be split. A purchaser who wishes to split payment must collect the individual
payments from the other bidders on their own.
PAYMENT AND CHECK OUT
At the end of the evening, please keep an eye out on your smart phone for an email from the IVE Auction
Software, letting you know that your online checkout is ready. Just follow the prompts on your device and
you will be able to pay from the comfort of your seat! You will then be all checked out. At that time,
please head to the Hay Barn (where Silent Auction took place) to Will Call and pick up all of your
purchases.
Please be patient with everyone at the end of the evening as our data entry volunteers will be working
very hard to quickly enter all items and get everyone home as soon as possible. In order to keep lines
down and reduce a large crowd, we do ask that you follow the check out process online first and then
head to Will Call. Thank you!
