Colton Pekar - Senior
Pig named Aubree
MY NAME IS COLTON PEKAR and I am from Houston, Texas. I
am a 19 year old Senior at Bellaire High School. This is
my fourth year in the Bellaire High School FFA Program. I am
presently raising a pig named “Aubree”. I have enjoyed
my last four years in FFA. Every year has been a different
experience with the pigs. I hope to apply the things I have learned
from raising the pigs in my career someday.
After I finish college I would like to OWN a wild game ranch. My love for the outdoors
and wildlife is leading me in this direction. I enjoy spending the weekends on my
family's ranch working the animals, watching wildlife, as well as, hunting, fishing and
photographing wildlife.

HELLO, BELLAIRE FFA 2011-2012 (THE BEST); MY NAME IS ALINA
ROJAS and I’m a sophomore this year, and I’ve been and FFA member for 2
years, I don’t plan to change my choice of being in FFA anytime soon.
I have had the privilege of having 2 projects this year, Jessi, my lamb, and
Pepper my steer, it hasn’t been easy but I sure do enjoy doing what I do.

Mrs. Armstrong and all the other that have helped me during this year
with advice and teaching, special thanks to my teacher Mr. Peak for

Arissa Ruiz - Junior
Pig named Gypsy
HELLO – MY NAME IS ARISSA RUIZ. I am a sophomore at Bellaire High
School and this is my second year in the FFA program.
I have had a great time and learned a great deal about agriculture, raising
animals and farming as a pleasure and a business. I have participated in
many different FFA events, such as attending greenhand banquet, Houston
Livestock Show and Rodeo
calf scramble, and helping in Bellaire farm preparation (building pens, etc).
Over the last five months I have been working to raise my pig, Gypsy. I have learned that
there is a lot more to raising an animal than just feeding and giving her water. Other
important items such as ensuring that she has a clean living are, is protected from
weather conditions, keeping up her exercise and training regimen.
My love for animals attracted me to the FFA program; someday I plan to go to veterinary
school. This is both an ambitious and challenging goal, but one I am committed to. I am
on the Bellaire Belles dance team. We perform at football games and dance competitions.
We have won several awards including first place at the MA Regional and Showtime
competition. I enjoy going on trips with my family. I mostly like warm weather places,
like the beach or going camping. Other hobbies include baking, watching movies,
shopping and listening to music.
Nick Scifers - Sophomore
Pig named Pickles
MY NAME IS NICK SCIFERS and I am 17 years old. I am originally from
Southeast Kansas. I am a junior at Bellaire High School. I am the Junior
Advisor for our officer team and this is my second year in FFA. This year,
I am raising a pig named Pickles.
From October through January, I work at Garwood Hunting Club where we hunt ducks,
geese and sand hill cranes. I currently hold three World Champion Waterfowl calling
titles as well as three Texas State Waterfowl calling titles.
I plan to attend college and major in Wildlife management with a minor in business. My
future plans include owning my own guide service.

Mally Shoulders - Junior
Goat named Wally
HI – MY NAME IS MALLY SHOULDERS and I am a junior at Bellaire High School. I
am 17 years old, and have 4 brothers and 1 sister. I come from a family of 8, which is an
amazing journey. Being the oldest child, I have learned a lot about responsibility and the
importance of family.
I enjoy being outdoors and with animals which is why I joined FFA. I have been involved in FFA
for 2 years; currently I am raising a goat named Wally. After graduating High School I plan on
going into nursing either at Harding University or Abilene Christian University.
Cole Stalnaker - Freshman

Pig named Benelli
MY NAME IS COLE STALNAKER. I am a freshman at Bellaire. This is my second year in
FFA. I started last year in eighth grade as a Junior FFA member and raised a lamb. This year
I am raising a black faced lamb named Buck, and my first pig name Benelli. Benelli is
purebred Yorkshire gilt.
This year has been really fun because I got to learn about the wonderful and funny
personalities of pigs. I showed my pig at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo where she placed
5th in her class. I am also on an Ag-mechanics team that built a two bale hay trailer. We showed
the trailer at the San Antonio Rodeo and won 1st place in our class.
In my free time I enjoy waterfowl hunting and saltwater fishing.

Kate Starr - Freshman
Pig named Riley
MY NAME IS KATE STARR; I am 15 years old, and I’m a freshman at
Bellaire High School. This is my first year in FFA, and I have a pig
named Riley. Next year I plan on getting a heifer and a goat.
I hope to graduate from the University of Arkansas with a major in
Agricultural Business. I love dealing with animals, and people. I plan on
opening a feed store, and owning a ranch with some type of show animal to breed for a
business.
Will Sylvester - Junior

HI, MY NAME IS WILL SYLVESTER. I Live in Bellaire, Tx. I am a 3rd
generation Bellaire High School Student.
This is my 3rd year in Bellaire FFA, and I am currently raising my 3rd Pig,
Peaches. I love going out to the barn after school to see her. When I am not taking
care of my pig, I spend all my spare time in East Texas remodeling an old house
with my grandpa. Being apart of FFA, and raising an animal has taught me to be
responsible more than anything.
I look forward to being involved in Bellaire FFA during the rest of my time at Bellaire High School,
and hope to learn as much as I can before I graduate!
Gabriel Tipton – Jr. FFA, Fifth Grade

MY NAME IS GABRIEL TIPTON, I’m ten years old, and I am in the fifth grade.
This is my first year in FFA and I am a junior member. I raised a pig this year and her name is

Megan Underwood - Sophomore
Lamb named Hoss
HEY YA’LL! MY NAME IS MEGAN UNDERWOOD
and I am a sophomore at Bellaire High School. This is
my third year in FFA. I have raised two Southdown
lambs, Mouton and Briggs and a black faced lamb
named Hoss. By far, Hoss has been the most
challenging. He definitely has a mind of his own.
I have participated in several judging and skills teams
and this year I serve as Secretary on our officer team. It
has been an honor and a privilege to participate in this
wonderful program with a great bunch of people whom I
call friends. It takes a lot of work and dedication, but it
has also been a lot of fun.
I am looking forward to next year as I was recently
awarded the opportunity to be one of the members of the
BHS varsity cheerleading squad. Once I finish at Bellaire HS, my current college plans
are to attend a veterinary school such as Texas A&M.

Kristen Vingoe - Sophomore
Lamb named Denver
HELLO EVERYONE – MY NAME IS
KRISTEN VINGOE and this is my third
year in the Bellaire FFA.
I joined FFA as a Junior member in eighth grade
while at Pin Oak Middle School. Ever since my first
year, I’ve raised lambs. My first two were named
Lucky and Ringo and were Southdown lambs. This
year, I am showing and selling my Black Faced lamb
named Denver. I joined FFA while Mr. King was our
advisor and loved learning everything he taught us,
both in school and out. Now I am happy to be
advised by Mr. Peak, and I am enjoying all the new
things we’re learning from him, as well as competing
in the very fun and more competitive competitions.
I’d like to thank him very much!
This year I was on the Ag issues team, as well as the Ag mechanics team
which we showed and placed 1st in our class with a two-bale hay trailer
at the San Antonio Livestock Show and Rodeo. I also serve as our
Chapter Sentinel for this year. Next year, I hope to raise my fourth
lamb as well as a pig. Eventually I’d love to maybe raise a steer!
Aside from FFA, I am also on the Bellaire softball team. In the
future, I’d love to be a nurse or doctor and attend the University of
Texas, Baylor, or Sam Houston State University. Being an Aggie is
even looking like a possibility! Thank you all who have
contributed so much to our 2012 Bellaire Show and Auction and
have come to support our FFA!
