Nexans Power Accessories Germany
celebrates 50th anniversary
Move to new factory, prompted by growth, proves company’s loyalty to Hof
Hanover, 13 June 2008 – Nexans Power Accessories Germany GmbH, a Nexans
company based in Hof, specialized in the manufacturing of fittings for energy cables
and transmission lines, has two reasons to celebrate this summer. The company,
founded as GPH by Gerhard Petri in 1958, will not only be half a century old, it will
also be celebrating its birthday in new premises. The reason for moving to a new
industrial estate in the same city was the very good order situation. The screw
connection technology launched in the 1980s is in particularly high demand, both in
Germany and abroad. Through the new building in Ferdinand-Porsche-Strasse 12 and
the addition of 25 new employees, bringing the total workforce to 140, the company
is responding to uninterrupted growth and proving its loyalty to Hof.
“The impending move naturally forced us to wonder whether a change of location
would be beneficial”, reports Peter Ahlers, Managing Director of Nexans Power
Accessories Germany GmbH. “But our employees’ high level of skills and
qualifications, combined with the flexibility, clinched it for us. The company would keep
its headquarters in Hof.” The new production and administration building is over
8,000 m2 in size. The new machinery here will allow the company to expand its
capacity, while the total property (around 38,000 m2 in size) offers room for future
developments.
Nexans Power Accessories Germany have inaugurated the new hall and celebrated
the company’s anniversary on 13 June in the presence of prominent political figures.
In addition to the Lord Mayor, Dr. Harald Fichtner, and the Hof District Administrator,
Bernd Hering, Assistant Secretary, Dr. Thies Claussen, from the Bavarian Ministry of
State also offered his congratulations. Gérard Hauser, Chairman and CEO of Nexans
Group, again emphasised the relevance of product quality for selecting this location
during the celebrations: “Screw technology has now grown into a sophisticated system.
By developing and manufacturing complete solutions - high value-added power
accessories as well as last generation power cables - to worldwide power utilities,
Nexans keeps reinforcing its strategy which places energy as the basis of its
development”, says Hauser. “In the past, Hof achieved a solid position in the global
market for cable connection technology. Today, it is fully equipped to meet the
challenges of the future thanks to its expanded operating facilities.”

the growth of Nexans Power Accessories Germany. Installers use
this to connect energy cables quickly and with the correct
tightening torque. Left: the M70-240 screw connector for
