He distracted them by appealing to each one's sense. Milo saw a large circus in the distance,
Tock smelled the good smells wafting from it, and Humbug heard the cheers and shouts of the
people. Each one became engrossed and forgetting the real reason they came.

The kingdom was all working together. Every night the Mathemagician would have large
firework displays that exploded numbers. The colors were provided from Chroma the Great, and
the sound produced from Dr. Dischord. King Azaz ordered large feasts with any words and
letters imaginable, and after dinner songs and poems were recited about the great rescuers of
Rhyme and Reason.

After going through the tollbooth Milo appeared back in his own room. It was 6:00 the very
same day. What seemed like weeks of being away was really only an hour.

lands, the world outside his window suddenly seemed quite different. He now knew there was so
much to see, hear, and touch right in his own backyard. Most of all, that within his own room
there were books that could take you anywhere, teach you new things to build and invent,
music to play, and words to imagine and make real.

In the beginning of the story Milo is bored with everything. He hates school, and he hates
learning. He thinks everything is a waste of his time and learning is the biggest waste of time
of it all. Nothing excites or amuses him. At the end of the story Milo has completely changed.
He now loves adventure and seeks out new challenges. He is enthralled by knowledge and
wants to learn and experience new things. In the end Milo learned that life is worth discovering,
and that knowledge is the most valuable tool we can ever possess because it can take you
places you never thought possible.
