The Importance of Mastering God’s Voice in Your Life Pray: This is the year that “IT’S ALREADY DONE!!!” Since we learned and know that it’s already done because God’s Word says it, it is important that we learn to master God’s voice in our life. The totality of our Christian walk is based on this one statement from Jesus: “My sheep hear My voice and they obey.” Saints, if you are not knowledgeable of the voice of God and fail to master it in your life, other voices will become attractive and convincing to you. God wants you to not just hear His voice, but to master it in your life. What does it mean to master God’s voice. Mastering God’s voice means to be skillful and proficient in hearting the voice of God. It is to gain a thorough insight, knowledge and understanding of God’s voice. Mastery produces a sense of ownership in your life. REMEMBER: What you master in your life, you will own. When you master God’s voice, you will become more proficient, more skillful, and more discerning of God’s voice, and you will obey on a consistent basis. I will be teaching a four week series on “Mastering God’s Voice in Your Life.” So tonight, I want to teach on ‘The Importance of Mastering God’s Voice In Your Life. •
John 10:26-­27New King James Version (NKJV): 26 But you do not believe, because you are not of My sheep, as I said to you.[a] 27 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. Saints, it is the inherent right and blessing of the believer because of salvation, to hear, to respond and to master God’s voice. The seed and the ability are already in us, if we are born again. But you have to know how to pursue this voice and master it. I recognize that many believer do not want to pursue little to nothing. What does mastering really means? To master something means to have a proper grip and control of a thing on a consistent basis. It means to become skillful and proficient in what you are doing. It means to gain a thorough insight, knowledge and understanding of something. Masteriing produces ownership in our lives. REMEMBER: What you master in your life, you own it in your life. To master the voice and leading of God in your life means you are skillful and proficient in hearing and discerning God’s voice and obeying Him on a consistent basis. It also means that you have gained a thorough or perfect knowledge and understanding in discerning the voice of God and His leading and you are practicing it in your life. THE VOICES THAT ARE RELEASED INTO YOUR LIFE 1 Corinthians 14:10-­11Amplified Bible (AMP) 10 There are, I suppose, all these many [to us unknown] tongues in the world [somewhere], and none is destitute of [its own power of] expression and meaning. 11 But if I do not know the force and significance of the speech (language), I shall seem to be a foreigner to the one who speaks [to me], and the speaker who addresses [me] will seem a foreigner to me. There are FOUR KINDS OF VOICES that are made available to us that are released in our lives. As a believer, you are either being led or governed by one or more of these voices. God’s desire is for us to be led and governed by His voice alone. Each of these voices is significant in their own way. IMPORTANT TO NOTE: Being significant does not mean godly. It doesn’t mean that it leads to life, to victory and success in our life. It just means that based on where you are at every given moment, any voice or a voice can become significant to you. Here are the FOUR kinds of voices. First, the voice of our soul. This voice is often the voice of the desire that is expressed and articulated from our flesh that demands a response. A lot of Christians have mastered this voice in their lives, to the point that it governs and rules them. The voice of the soul is often the voice of our flesh and desire. Second, the voice of pain. These are the voices or expression that are released into our minds and thought life from the experience of pain, hurts, and negative situation and circumstances that we have experienced. The more you experience difficulties and problems in life without solution and dependence on God, the more this voice gets stronger and get more established in your life. You start believing it and start responding from it. The voice of pain will prevent you from receiving and honoring a God instruction and direction, because of the pain that a previous obedience and God instruction created in your life. Third, the voice of the enemy. This is the voice that the enemy through his spirits releases or speaks into our minds to counteract the voice and will of God. This voice usually come through suggestions to make you doubt and be suspicious of God, His ways, His instructions, His integrity, His methods and direction in your life. Fourth, the voice of God. This is the voice that is spoken to our spirit. The voice of God is the voice of truth, the voice of life, the voice of destiny. This the voice that we are called to master in our life. Saints, we must learn to listen to the voice of God and master it. Now you need to ask yourself, what voice do I respond to more in my life? THE HEART MATTERS Now in addition to the four kinds of voices, there are four key things you must understand that needs to be established in your heart concerning mastering God’s voice and His leading. FIRST, when God speaks, your previous experiences of failure, defeat or pain has nothing to do with your current word of success and victory that God has spoken to you. In other word, the voice of God erases the sting of our previous failures, defeat and disappointment and establishes a new foundation of success and victory. The memory or the picture may still be there, but the pain and sting doesn’t exist anymore. The pain that has the potential to create voices in your life doesn’t exist anymore. SECOND, the voices of God is intended to define who you are at every given moment. When you as a believer practice and masters the voice, leadings and impression of God in your life, it defines who are and creates for you a new identity. Biblical example: The voice of God that came into Gideon’s life through the angel of the Lord defined Gideon as a strong man of valor, even though Gideon was not knowledgeable of this before the voice of God. The reality of God became Gideon’s new identity. That is the strength of the voice of God in the life of the believer. From the very moment Gideon heard the voice of God and received it, his life became transformed. How he saw himself became completely different. In other words, Gideon began to see himself as God saw him. THIRD, the voice of God is intended to open the east window of your life for God to announce in you the arrival, the birthing and the dawning of the new thing. Saints, every time God speaks to you, windows of opportunity are presented to you. Your responsibility is to recognize it and take advantage of it. Every time God speaks into your life, He is creating an entrance and an opportunity for the new of heaven to be established in your life. The east window is the arrival of the new and fresh of God in your life. As the east windows open, your heart become more sensitive and more in expectation of God’s leading and God’s voice coming into your life. Windows are often not opened for a long time. They are seasonal. They represent opportunities that are made available to us that we must quicly take advantage of. ! 1 John 4:17Amplified Bible (AMP): In this [union and communion with Him] love is brought to completion and attains perfection with us, that we may have confidence for the day of judgment [with assurance and boldness to face Him], because as He is, so are we in this world. FOURTH, the voice of God is intended to transform us into beholding Him. When God speak to you or into your situation, His voice become the picture of His promise and His manifestation in your life. The more you behold Him through the Word, the more you are transformed into the picture of the voice. That is how we become as He is in this world. WHY THE VOICE AND LEADING OF GOD IS IMPORTANT TO THE BELIEVER Saints, why is hearing and mastering God’s voice and leading important to you today? There are eleven key blessings of the voice of God that enables us to appreciate its importance in our life. 1. The FIRST reason the voice of God is important in your life is that it will lead you to find the heart of God in every given matter. And the heart of God will then lead you to the will of God for your life. You will never be able to know the will of God, if you do not know and master God’s voice. Saints, it begins with mastering His voice. 2. SECOND: It released confidence in you in the times of pursuit. I Samuel 30:8-­‐9 NKJV talks about David inquiring of the Lord saying “Shall I pursue this troop? Shall I overtake them? Pursuit can often be difficult. But the voice of God in our pursuit makes pursuit easy. Knowing that you have heard from God in your venture and pursuit creates confidence in you not to quit your pursuit. God’s voice to David made David’s pursuit of recovering what was stolen from him easy. It instills a God assurance in your heart from a manifestation. 3. THIRD, the voice of God builds courage in you in the times of battle. As we accomplish God’s and vision, the enemy attacks and endeavors to derail us. Most Christians often quit at these points, because of battle fatigue and delay in manifestations. But it is at these moments that the voice of God become more significant in our lives. The voice of God builds the necessary courage needed for the battle and strengthens our heart from abandoning the assignment and vision of God. 4. FOURTH, it releases the assurance of God’s presence with you. The voice of God is the presence of God. Where the voice of God is, that is where the presence of God is also. The absence of God’s voice is the absence of God’s presence. As we master God’s voice, we learn to master His presence. It is a two-­fold thing. 5. FIFTH, the voice of God establishes the approval of God in your heart, on your life, and in your endeavors. Saints, the greatest mistake a believers can make is to embark on a project without clearly hearing God’s voice on it. What that means is, the project might be void of God’s approval. God only pays for what God orders. His voice on our projects, assignments or pursuits helps to determine God’s approval on what we are doing. WARNING ALERT: Never embark on anything without a clear approval of God’s voice on it and on you. 6. SIXTH, the voice of God strengthens your heart and it eradicates the fears of wrong directions in life. When you master the voice and leading of God in your life, you will stop being afraid of making wrong decision, wrong choices, or ever embarking on a counterfeit assignment in your life. 7. SEVENTH, the voice of God, when it is mastered, helps mature you the believer and perfect the will of God in your life. TO BE CONTINUED: Next week I will give the remaining four keys.
