Our Mission - Save Starlight

Our Mission
Starlight Bowl, an open-air amphitheater closed its doors in 2012. Since then, this
valuable historical venue in the heart of San Diego's Balboa Park has been deteriorating
at a fast-paced rate. San Diego currently lacks performance spaces that provide
programming, access, and training to the community, with significant participatory
opportunities for students from the local school districts Learn more about us
A New Generation of Performances
Mariachi Juvenil Azteca Performing live at Save Starlight’s Reverse Gardening Party
Starlight's location will provide the opportunity for our organization to serve families
and individual's surrounding San Diego communities, students represented for the
various surrounding college campus, including domestic and international visitors.
Our non-profit will actively connect the San Diego community within the
performances adding in educational contingencies non-profit support and ongoing
cultural and civic benefit.
Mariachi Juvenil Azteca began in 2001 as a mariachi class program offered by the
Sweetwater Union High School District at Montgomery High School. Current
members of the group have graduated and are pursuing higher education at local
colleges. Mariachi Juvenil Azteca has been invited to perform in all parts of the
nation including New York, Hawaii, Nevada, Arizona, and parts of Mexico Watch

Our Educational Mandate
As part of our educational mandate, we will engage teams of students in
productions, showing students the ropes--from audio to techniques, from front
to back of house, servicing students from all backgrounds across San Diego in
real-time education experiences.
