We will focus on the history of the Roman Empire and its impact
on Britain, including our local area.

 Roman law and order.
 Roman roads and towns.
Geography
We will learn the location and the different traits of volcanoes
around the world. Children will be able to mark the Ring of Fire on
a world map.
Maths
We will continue to follow Abacus planning for year 4.
Some objectives for the term include:
 Recognise, use, compare and order decimal
numbers.
 Add amounts of money.
 Tell the time on a 24 hour clock, using am and
pm correctly.
 Solve word problems involving multiplication
and division.
Role play
Children will have the opportunity to extend their
learning and understanding of Volcanos in our
newsroom. Children will become reporters, investigating
Volcanoes and Earthquakes around the world.

Forest School/ Gardening
As always, forest school will

mazes to ‘escape Pompeii’ and
making our own time capsule.

in our class garden patch.
Art and design technology
 We will use a range of techniques to try
and capture the explosive power of volcanic
eruptions.
 We will use our sketch books to record our
observations on our trip to Chedworth
Roman Villa.
Science – Animals, including humans.
 Describe the simple functions of the basic
parts of the digestive system in humans
 Identify the different types of teeth in
humans and their simple functions
 Construct and interpret a variety of food
chains, identifying producers, predators
and prey.
Computing
 Use green screen technology to make a TV
programme about the events in Pompeii in
79AD.
