Grand Ronde Christmas Light Dedications
In December, the Grand Ronde Tribe held a
ceremony at the Tribal Community Center to help raise
money for the Elders' Committee. A light on the tree could be purchased for one dollar in the name of someone else. The
person could be a friend, family member, new birth, or to honor the memory of a love one who has passed on. The following
is a list of the people who purchased lights, and the people to whom they were dedicated.

Wellness Volunteers Thanked
The Wellness Component Staff of the tribal Human
Services Division would like to take this time to wish all of
our clients a healthy, happy New Year. The Wellness
Component Staff are: Elaine Smith, Shelly Kent, and Mark
Cook, Senior Services. They provide nutrition information
and meals and transportation for our elders three days per
week at the Senior Mealsite in Grand Ronde.
Vernon Kennedy and Camille VanVleet (January
through August) have provided substance abuse prevention
activities and education the tribal service area, including the
Sober
New year Sober Dance, Graduation Honor Pow-woWomen's Softball
Dance at Grand Ronde Pow-wotournament and other events.
Linda Smith, Jim Holmes, and Bonnie Martin have
provided medical transports, home visits for follow-u- p from
medical providers and assessments, educational information
to small and large groups, and blood pressure screening.
Wellness activities include Fun RunWalk for health, nutrition
picnic, Christmas tree Lighting, skating for children and
exercise classes. They have helped the Tribal council and
Pow-wocommittee with Christmas Party, Summer Camp,
Elder's Mealsite menu, and other events.
A special thank you to all the people who volunteered
their time in 1992 to help make wellness activities possible.
