Taoist Festival of Brussels
2013
The Taoist Festival of Brussels will welcome the most relevant Taoist delegation from China visiting western
countries. The delegation is composed by about 90 people among which some 60 are Taoist monks coming from
different temples in China.
A variety of events will take place in Brussels to promote various aspects of the Chinese Taoism. It is the first
time that these masters come to present their Taoist practices in Europe and we are both delighted and honored to
welcome them in our country.
Martial Art will be presented by the Wudang Shan troupe.
Taoist Lectures will be given by master Meng Zhiling and fangzhang Wu Chengzhen. Grand Master Meng
Zhiling is director of the National Institute of Taoist Studies and Vice-President of the China’s Taoist
Association. Grand Master with a pure heart, his more than 10 year experience as a hermit gives his
teachings depth and incomparable richness.Grand Master Wu Chengzhen is the first woman in history to be
awarded the honorary title of Fangzhang, the highest in the Taoist spiritual title awarded by the
Taoist community. Her daily meditation practice for over 40 years has granted her a quiet and wide
open heart. This lectures will provide an opportunity to interact with Master Wu Fangzhang .
Musicians and singers are taoist monks coming from the most prominent Taoist temples in China. With
them, you will discover the traditional musical instruments used in Taoist music and sacred chants.
All activities are organised by the Chinese Taoist Association and the Belgian Taoist Association, with the
support and collaboration of the Embassy of China in Brussels and TETRA.
