This method cuts down frequent trips to Coinstar while keeping the competition fun and exciting!
STEP 1 – collect classroom boxes
Collect the classroom boxes from each teacher
Pro tip: Use a student group such as Student Council to collect the boxes for you
STEP 2 – weigh each box
Weigh each box of change
Pro tip: If you don’t have a small scale, try the weight scale in the Nurse’s office or postal scale.
STEP 3 – assign points
Assign one point per pound of change & one point per dollar for non-coin donations
Pro tip: Set up an Excel spreadsheet to track the totals for each class
DON’T FORGET TO CHECK ONLINE GIVING TOTALS!
STEP 4 – share who is ahead
Announce totals weekly on the morning announcements to keep up the excitement!
Pro tip: Engage your student groups & ask them to make the announcements for you
