Board Selection Criteria 2016 Directors on the Autism Society of Edmonton Area’s Board are elected based upon experience, background and skills the Board deems important. These attributes will change as the requirements of Autism Edmonton do. The specific areas of experience and background sought this year are set out in section “A” below. General skills and expertise requirements are in section “B”. Note that Board directors are elected on a two-year rotational basis. A. Specific Background We are seeking candidates with the following attributes or combination thereof: 1. Teacher – The Board invites suitable individuals to be nominated who work on the front lines with children on the spectrum. 2. Autism Edmonton actively encourages persons from the medical community and other health care supporters such as psychologists, social workers etc. who work directly with adults and/or children on the spectrum. 3. Interested members with an accounting or finance background. 4. Other If applicants cannot make the full commitment of a Board Director, their skills and voice would be invaluable on Committees. B. Other Skills and Expertise Apart from the specific requirements for positions as detailed in section A, all candidates would also demonstrate the following general skills and expertise: 1. Broad understanding of board governance 2. Understanding the impact of ASD upon families and individuals 3.
