Position Title Manager ‐ Quality and Risk Support site Head Office Department Quality and Risk Position reports to Executive General Manager Clinical Governance and Client Safety Direct reports 8 direct reports Job Purpose 







To manage the Quality and Risk Department
To maintain and coordinate system and processes that ensure ongoing accreditation and compliance with
relevant standards are maintained (e.g. ACHS EQuIP Standards & Home Care Standards)
To maintain and coordinate the RDNS Group Risk Management Framework including organisational risk
registers and Business Continuity Plan
To provide oversight of Riskman and RiskmanQ to ensure timely reporting of feedback, incidents, quality
improvements and internal audit program
To contribute to the RDNS Group Clinical Governance and Client Safety system and framework to improve
client safety
To review and maintain the RDNS Consumer Participation Framework
To fulfil the conduct requirements of the nursing profession and the organisation.
To function in accordance with legislation and common law affecting nursing practice and business operations
Key Position Functions Provides Leadership in Quality Management in the Workplace





Develops, communicates, maintains, monitors and evaluates the continuous improvement system and
principals for RDNS
Expert advisor on continuous improvement systems and management
Conversant with contemporary continuous improvement systems and management
Prepares reports for the executive team on outcomes of internal and external reviews
Participates as a member of the Clinical Quality and Risk Management Committee (CQRMC) and Clinical
Governance and Client Safety Committees
Continuous Improvement Projects
 Initiate and undertake quality improvement projects that are consistent with RDNS strategic direction and
organisational goals
 Provide support to Departments and Regional Office undertaking continuous improvement projects

 Prepare relevant reports for accreditation and quality reviews and ensure requirements and deadlines are met
 Coordinate and ensure actions arising from ACHS recommendations are completed
 Provide education and information to departments regarding preparations for accreditation
Consumer Participation
 Develops, implements and coordinates RDNS Consumer Participation Framework, policy and related material
 Responsible for developing, and maintaining effective mechanisms for consumer participation within RDNS to
enhance planning and the delivery of clinical services
Risk Management
 Monitor the implementation of risk management in the parts of the organisation in which they work
 Review and maintain the Risk Management Framework annual to meet attestation requirements
 Develop and monitor the risk management program
 Develop and maintain an organisational risk registers
 Coordinates the Risk Management Advisory Committee and other associated committees/groups
 Promoting the acceptance of risk management techniques and provide advice and support
 Develop, implement and evaluate the Business Continuity Plan and associated activities and ensure regular
review and evaluation
Manages workplace information
 Identifies and sources information needs.
 Collects, analyses and reports on client care / resource data
 Provides monthly reports to the Executive General Manager Clinical Governance and Client Safety
Functions in accordance with legislation affecting professional practice
 Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of Standards and legislation
 Understands legal implications in relation to non compliance to standards and legislation.
 Keeps up to date with guidelines and regulations and these are clearly understood
 Professional actions are justified with reference to legislation.
 Changes in legislation and government policy are incorporated into local policies, practices, and procedures.
 Acts to promote the continuous improvement of self and others

Previous experience managing a discrete team of staff (2 years plus) Expert knowledge of accreditation standards and other relevant standards Comprehensive understanding of relevant Legislation, Regulations, Guidelines and Standards Excellent interpersonal and communication skills – written and verbal Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to plan and prioritise Ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives Proven ability to contribute to and work as part of a team in addition to operating independently Demonstrated high level of confidentiality Excellent computing skills including Microsoft Office and RiskMan packages © Royal District Nursing Service Version 1.0 May 2013 Page 2 of 3 
