Nature Camps is a family based program, specializing in mixed-age learning.
A Sense Of Wonder
There Was a Child Went Forth
In a creative and guided setting, children choose activities in which they wish
to participate. Family Overnights and Concerts take place each session!
There was a child went forth every day;
And the first object he look’d upon,
that object he became; And that
object became part of him for the day,
or a certain part of the day, or for many
years, or stretching cycles of years.
—Walt Whitman
Children are realists. They want to experience things first hand. When children
are studying their environment and
its wonders, life becomes a little more
understandable and touchable to them.
Programs
Even more appealing to children is the
fact that learning outdoors is fun and
gives them a feeling of having a good
time while learning. Children know that
realities turn them on.
Camp Little Feet
The endless woods, the meandering streams—with all their interesting sounds, and delightful places to
explore—bring forth an enchanted
peaceful place for everyone at Nature
Camps. Outdoors under blue skies or
singing in the rain, everyone soaks
up the beauty of nature, and of one
another. We continue to wish for each
person an enduring sense of wonder,
and a lifelong instinct for the beauty
and magic that is all about us in the
natural world—bringing forth refreshing
peacefulness.
• Wednesday Family Overnight option.
(Toddlers)
Parents and toddlers enjoy a guided and
self-guided, mini version of Camp Wonder.
• M,W,F mornings (9:30am-12pm)
Camp Wonder
(Age 4)
Camp Wonder Staff take four year olds under
their gentle wings, exposing them to all
aspects of Nature Camps: small hikes, swimming lessons, natural crafts, making their own
special and smaller version of a Nature Camps
journal to draw and print in, exploring the
stream, adventure challenge course, climbing
into the “mud pit,” and more.
(Ages 5-12)
In a guided way children choose activities in
which they will participate. In rain or shine,
Outdoor Educators take children out into the
woods, fields, and streams:
• Helping children feel comfortable in, and
understand, their environment.
• Heightening children’s sensory awareness,
using all their senses, experiencing some of
the places where plants and animals live.
Teen Adventure
(Ages 13-16)
Teen Adventure (TA) is an innovative and physically challenging two week experience (M-F).
Focus is upon affirming individual strengths,
engendering compassionate behavior, and
bringing forth environmental stewardship.
Teens feel the power of tradition and community during their engaging time with their
peers and two trip leaders. Limited enrollment.
• Creating an atmosphere of caring and respect.
• Bringing forth a spirit of adventure and
excitement.
• Assuring children of their inestimable worth.
• NEW: Explorers (11-12) Three overnights!
Nature Study
At Nature Camps, nature study is about deepening
children’s sense of wonder. They experience the
beauty and marvels and intricacies of the natural
world.
Nature Camps continues to be a gentle,
peaceful place, where children and
adults delight in mutual learnings and
knowings—whether during the day, or
on Family Overnights & Concerts.
I only went for a walk and finally concluded to stay out ‘til
sundown, for going out, I found, was really going in. –John Muir

Sensory awareness is about helping children build
an understanding of, and an appreciation for, the
natural world. We do this with focused, innovative,
and meaningful acclimatization activities.
Nature Camps’ goal is to have children feel their
environment. To draw it close to them, to love it,
to understand it—not for its labels, fables and
fears—but as an intrinsic part of themselves.

By better understanding themselves in relation to
their environment, children will better understand
their place in it.
Summertime belongs especially to
children. Nature Camps provides
an unhurried, relaxing, and
adventuresome time—for children
to find success and joy.
