Garden House School Summer time! The best time to be a child! Nature walks, water play, gardening, crafts, yoga, dance and much more at Garden House this summer. For further information, please contact [email protected] or 2358-1177 *early bird 5% discount Sunny Summer Days Each week Morning activities include caring for our school rabbits, gardening, baking, water and outdoor play, going to the beach, visiting our farm and exploring the nearby country park. Everyday a summer nature story will be told by the teachers as well as group circle time full of summer songs and games. Children will eat their packed lunches together (extended day) and have a short rest time before beginning their afternoon activities. These can include outdoor play, handicrafts, yoga and dance, to name a few. As the children make new friends, a warm caring summer family environment will have formed. 10th – 14th July Colours of the Rainbow For the first week of our summer school, children will learn how to tie-dye a backpack. This tie dye technique is easy as projects for children. They will enjoy their own bag to use to pack lunch or other activities. Pictures are for reference only. 17th – 21st July Hear the World During this week, children will create music of their own! They will make for themselves a beautiful drum that they can take home. This fun activity inspires creativity not only in the creation of the instrument, but also the time they will enjoy spending in playing simple music. (Note:Please bring your own tin for this craft Preferably baby milk powder size tin) 24th – 28th July Bugs and Butterflies 31stJuly – 4th August Summer Breeze We will spend a delightful week focused on creating small animals and habitats, such as, clay bug houses, wool birds, and beeswax butterflies, to name a few! 7th – 11th August Fairies and Gnomes Spend a week making little fairies and gnomes, create a fairy home for their little friends using a variety of natural materials. Children will take home the fairy at the end of the week. Pictures are for reference only. During this week of crafts, children will create a wind chime. The project includes sanding the wood (kindergarten class), selecting their favourite colour beads and threading. We love decorating our classroom with homemade wind chimes. Children can then take home their wind chime at the end of the week. 14th – 18th August Hong Kong Culture During this week children will explore Hong Kong culture with stories, crafts, and traditional foods/snacks. 21st – 25th August Farming Spend a delightful week making crafts related to our farm, singing songs about animals and a visit to Garden House farm to explore how food is grown. An ideal way for city children to understand and connect with where their food comes from. By learning how a farm works, children experience the natural world in a new way. Weather permitting TRANSPORTATION Our school buses cover various areas, and are equipped with seat belts. As safety of our children remains our priority a bus mother will accompany all trips. Please contact the school office for more information. Enrolment Please send your completed summer programme application form, together with the appropriate fees, to the school office. Cheques should be made payable to: “Garden House”, or bank transfer – (Hang Seng Bank 796-047231-001) Places are confirmed when payment is received in full. Terms and Conditions Enrolment is available for a minimum of 1 week to a maximum of 7 weeks, subject to availability. Parents are advised to check the weather condition before leaving home in the morning. The Education Department makes a decision at 6.00am on such mornings. Under normal circumstances Garden House follows the Government’s recommendation and does not call parents directly. The following general arrangement are applied: Typhoon 1 All Parent & Child, kindergarten classes are to operate as usual. All kindergarten classes are to close. P&C classes are to operate as usual. Typhoon 3 Typhoon 8 Amber Rainstorm Red Rainstorm Black Rainstorm Note: Extended day activities will be cancelled if the signal is still in effect at 10:45 a.m. All Parent & Child, kindergarten classes will be dismissed (The notice of typhoon 8 signal raised is given to schools several hours before it is actually hoisted, thus allowing schools enough time to make arrangements to get children home safety. We regret that there will be no make-up classes for these enforced closures. - No refund will be given for cancellation of classes due to weather conditions, sickness or family matters. Payment is due in full upon application. No application is accepted unless payment is received in full. Once payment is received, parents may change their selected dates one time only, subject to space availability. The school will be closed on all public holidays. No photos or videos may be taken in the school premises, unless prior permission is given by the school office. Garden House will accept children on the assumption that they are in good health.
