5th Grade Social Studies Syllabus 2014-2015
This syllabus is a guide for the topics and standards that we will discuss each month of the year.
Under each month you will see an “I can” statement that the students will be able to make after
mastering concepts throughout the month. The number and letter label associated with each
statement are the state standards that are being met. You will see some topics repeated
occasionally to maintain retention. You will also see that we focus on fewer or more topics
during certain months depending on the needs of students and the particular concept’s level of
difficulty. Additional/Yearly Standards will indicate that we will be reinforcing previously
learned standards or those that can be integrated with other concepts.
