What does CLA mean to you?
Early 2016 CLA will be inviting you all to participate in ‘Telling
our Story’. CLA has a rich history and strong family values. In
preparation for NDIS we will be looking at telling our story
through our Mission and Vision and Strategic Planning. This
will let people know who we are and what we do, it will enable individuals, families and staff to become part of the CLA
story if they like what we do.
If you have not already had the chance to drop by and see the
new, bigger and improved Day Service, please come along
and one of us will give you the guided tour, be prepared to
get interactive, it’s an adventure for all the senses.
Thanks Julie

In August, the Agency had a focus on Human Rights for the month.
The Dayservice and Events Committee
were involved in multiple activities raising
funds and awareness for the causes. AmnesTea and Baking for the Red
Cross Big Cake Bake are two great examples.
The Australian Competition and Consumer
Commission has released new resources
for consumers of disability-related products
and services.
As we approach the NDIS, I cannot stress
enough the importance of being familiar with
your rights as a consumer. Have a look on

Moving forward with CLA policies.
CLA have recently procured a number of policies and procedures that are reflected of current standards and practices.
Why does CLA think that we require additional policies as we head towards the implementation of NDIS?
* A Policy is a statement of agreed intent that clearly and unequivocally sets out an organisation’s views with respect to a particular matter. It is a set of principles or rules that provide a definite direction for an organisation.
* Policies assist in defining what must be done with a procedure which is a clear step by step method for implementing an
organisation’s policy or responsibility.
* So staff and families can have a framework for actions that help them get on with the job they need to do.
* So staff and families don’t have to keep on discussing and rediscussing the same issues every time they arise – one thought
out decision can be applied to many similar cases – efficiency.
* So legal and other requirements can be met
* A tool in quality improvement.
Unwritten policies and procedures often lead to confusion and conflict.
