FB FAQ: LOCAL SHOPPING AROUND HOMEWOOD
I.
Shopping: There were many, many threads before Move-In about shopping near campus.
Below is a list of favorite shopping areas. Almost all require a car. Students can use College
Town Shuttle once you leave.
a. Major Retail Stores
i.
Barnes & Noble, corner of 33rd Street and St. Paul Street,
on campus was incredibly well stocked with back-to-school
items. We were all surprised and favorably impressed. If
you don’t have a car, you won’t go wrong here. The prices
were not terrible, either.
ii.
Towson Town Center is an upscale mall approximately 6
miles north of campus.
iii.
Towson Place Shopping Center has Target, Wal-Mart,
Michael's, Marshall's, TJ Maxx, Sports Authority, Bed, Bath
& Beyond, HomeGoods and Staples and is approximately 6
miles NW of campus.
iv.
The Shops at Kenilworth feature Stebbins Anderson
hardware and fine gifts as well as many other specialty
shops and is located approximately 10 miles NE of campus.
v.
Village of Cross Keys features specialty shops and
restaurants and is located approximately 3 miles NW of
campus.
vi.
Hampden Village Merchants, on the Avenue (36th Street) is
located just around the corner from campus and features
many specialty shops and local restaurants.
b. Grocery Stores and Food Markets
i.
Giant Food - 601 East 33rd St., Waverly Crossroad. Some
people say this area can get sketchy at night. It is the closest
supermarket to campus.

ii.
Giant Food - 1020 W 41st Street. In a nicer neighborhood,
but about 2 miles away NW of campus.
iii.
Safeway, Charles Village - 2401 N. Charles (at E. 25th);
located nearby about 1 mile SE of campus.
iv.
Trader Joe’s, Towson - 1 East Joppa Road. Featuring
specialty food and organic products located approximately
12 NE of campus.
v.
Charles Street Market - located in Wolman Hall on the
corner of Charles and 34th Street.
vi.
Eddies of Roland Park - two locations located close to
campus: 6213 Charles Street within walking distance of
campus and 5133 Roland Avenue just 2 miles NW of
campus.
vii.
Graul’s Market - two locations: Ruxton Graul’s is
approximately 9 miles NE of campus in Towson, and Mays
Chapel Graul’s is 14 miles NW of campus in Lutherville.
Local Pharmacies – link will provide a comprehensive list
i.
Rite Aid Pharmacy is located on campus in the basement of
the Wyman Park Building across from Mason Hall.
ii.
Tuxedo Pharmacy is located nearby in Roland Park and will
deliver.
iii.
Giant Food Pharmacy located on E. 33rd Street.
