How to Access Reserved Services at North Suffolk Mental Health




Rapid Assessment and Referral
 MGH has “reserved” up to three slots per week for patients from the MGH Health Centers and ACT
team to NSMHA’s rapid assessment and referral. At this session (located in Chelsea and East Boston),
patients are evaluated for appropriate level of care and could be referred to NSMHA’s Stages of
Change groups, Intensive Outpatient or Program (IOP)or Structured Outpatient Addiction Program
(SOAP) located in East Boston. The program is 3 to 5 days per week in the evening. Length of stay
averages 30 days.
Suboxone
 Patients could also be referred for suboxone if they were started in the hospital as long as they were
willing to engage in the IOP. NSMHA is unable to provide medications for uninsured patients.
A Word on Co-Pays and Insurance
 We have also agreed to pay the co-pays for the IOP for 20 patients if the co-pay is too high for patients
to pay.
 We have also agreed to pay the full fee for the Structured Outpatient Addiction Program for
approximately 10 patients whose insurance does not cover the program.
How to Access these services
 Call the NSMHA Central Triage line at 1-888-294-7802 and say the secret code words: “MGH Service
Reservation program.”
 Designate one or two people from your practice who are authorized to call. We will share these
names with NSMHA. That person will need to enter the referral into ETO.
 Fill out the referral form (attached) and fax it to 617-887-9943. Give the patient a copy as well.
