It is the dog days of summer as I write this—hot
muggy days and rainstorms that cool us off
for a while and then the
humidity is right back up
there.
A couple of Wednesday
evenings ago, it was my
turn to facilitate the OffTrack Bible Study that Pastor Oliver and I take
turns leading. It was the
night before my vacation
started. It had been a hot
and muggy day, so we
took our Bible Study into
the air conditioned coolness of Social Hall and sat
around tables.
We wrote out 6 post-it
notes with specific people from the Bible on
each post-it. I listed them
out of order. Our task
was to put the names in
chronological order.
Then we wrote specific
events of the Bible on
It is only as we embed
songs of faith and the
stories and people of the
Bible into our hearts that
we make that faith walk
towards God, knowing
that God is our home.

Dear Family,
Clark-Grace
UCC
Mission
Statement:
We are a
faith-based,
progressive
community
with historical
roots that
provide:
education,
teaching,
mentoring
and
community
service
throughout
the Kingdom
of God.
We have great news to
share! At Sunday's Congregational Meeting, The Joint
Finance & Stewardship
Working Group set a proposal before the congregation and the people voted,
unanimously, to go forward
with a one-offering envelope
system of giving during worship. It took us almost three
years to get here but we got
here all together. Unanimously!
The details are as follows:
• The name on the offering envelope is Clark-Grace
UCC.
Missions
Shauen Lassiter Pearce, Moderator
• Any checks written to
Clark Memorial UCC, Grace
Church UCC or ClarkGrace UCC will be deposited into the Clark Memorial
UCC bank account.
• Clark Memorial UCC
will make a monthly contribution to Grace Church per
our agreement.
• This is effective July 1.
We will evaluate in six
months in December.
• Funds currently in
Grace’s account will remain
in the Grace account.
• Neither pastors or family members will write or
sign checks, or be listed on
church bank accounts.
• Clark’s Financial Secretary will provide year-end
statements of contribution
for all offerings.
• Clark’s Bookkeeper
will produce the Annual
Report to reflect ALL income and expenses, including Grace’s January-June
reports.
Reminder: Coffee and Tea
purchases will be reimbursed by the Women’s
Fellowship. Please submit
those receipts to Patty in
the church office for reimbursement. We have purchased supplies through the
end of July and most of August.

Volunteer
Spotlights
Last year, 1,847 people
volunteered 48,510 hours
at Neighbors, Inc. – that’s
the equivalent of 25 fulltime staff people (nearly
double what the organization currently employs).
Without these individuals,
Neighbors wouldn’t be
able to provide the services it does to those in
need in the community.
Mondays at the Food Shelf
The Monday morning shift
at the food shelf is very
busy! Drivers go all over
picking up donations from
stores and bakeries to
bring in extra produce,
baked goods and more left
from the weekend. Once
it’s dropped off at Neighbors, other volunteers sort
and categorize everything,
