Now is the time to collect your sponsorship money and bring it to school. The money raised will help support our school with English, Maths and ICT resources, along with the establishment of an artificial turf oval. Grade 5 Sovereign Hill Camp On Tuesday and Wednesday our Grade 5 students took part in the Sovereign Hill Camp. The feedback from students and staff has been outstanding. Our students were very well behaved and there were many highlights, including the Blood on the Southern Cross show. Well done Ms de Jong and the Grade 5 team for all the preparation and work that went into the camp. Grandparents’ Day – August 31st Our Grandparents’ Day is coming up and will be held from 2:303:30pm. This will be a great opportunity for Grandparents to take part in classroom activities with their grandchildren and have a look around our school. Please let our Grandparents know so they can put this date aside. Fathers’ Day Breakfast – August 30th This event includes our dads hearing from our guest speaker, racing car driver Steven Richards, then being involved in an activity with their children in their classroom. The dads will make their way back to the gym for a light breakfast and raffle draw. This is always a special day in the Oatlands year, as it gives our dads a chance to spend some school time with their children. Lunchtime Clubs We have updated our Lunchtime Club Program in the Library and the new program is below. Thanks to Ms Crowther, Ms Kennington and the Information Literacy Team for the new program. The application guide and form medication required 3 times per day is are NOW AVAILABLE ON LINE. SCHOOL UNIFORM Pre-loved uniforms are available from the office for a donation of $2 per item. generally not required during a school day: it can be taken before and after school and before bed’. So it is preferred that students do not bring medications to school. LOST PROPERTY Lost Property is now located outside the Grade 6 classrooms. PARKING: No parents should be entering the staff car park to drop off or collect their children from school. Moving cars and excited children are a recipe for disaster. Bank books need to be at the office each Monday and will be returned to the classroom the following Tuesday. Safety in Car Parks Our community is reminded to take extreme care with driving and parking in and around the School car parks. Drivers are asked to drive at a walking pace, respect and co-operate with other drivers at all times, ensuring that students are only dropped off in safe areas and not within carriageways. BIKES AND SCOOTERS IN THE SCHOOL GROUNDS Riding and scooting while on school grounds is not permitted at any time. Thank you for your cooperation. Canteen Closed - Wednesday 3rd August 2016 We are having our school athletics trials for all children in rd grades 3-6 on Wednesday 3 August 2016 at Casey Fields Athletics Complex. Due to the Athletics trials the school canteen will be closed for both lunch orders and counter sales all day, students will need to bring their play time snack and lunch from home on this day. Not only did we raise money for our school, this event created a terrific sense of community and healthy competition amongst all of the grades. Well done to all of our award winners and thank you to all of our parent helpers and staff who helped to make this day such a wonderful success. OATLANDS ATHLETICS CARNIVAL Wednesday 3rd August Dear Parent rd Just a reminder that we have the Oatlands Athletics trials next Wednesday 3 August from 9.00am – 2.30pm. As this is a House Event our students are encouraged to wear their house colours ready to compete and encourage their fellow house members. Please note: All students will need to be at school by 8.30am as the buses will be leaving at 8.45am SHARP. EBONY CODE COMPETES AT THE STATE CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS A big congratulations to Ebony Code of 4JC on her performance at The State Cross Country Trials last week. She finished an incredible 9th place which means that she is the 9th best cross country runner in Victoria for her age. We are very proud of you Ebony. Way to go! SHARNI MARTIN Congratulations to Sharni Martin who competed at the Victorian Schools Cycling Competition last weekend nd and finished a very credible 2 in her age group. Our Athletes (students) are encouraged to wear their grades/ countries representative colours. The students will participate in various games and activities. The morning will commence at 9:00am and conclude at 11:15am (approx). It is anticipated on the day that all Dads will bring their children to the classroom and then just after 9:00am proceed to the gym and listen to racing car driver Steven Richards. Following Steven’s address and prior to recess time there will be a short time for Dads to return to their children’s classroom and assist them with a project. At recess all Dads are invited to return to the gym for morning tea/breakfast. We hope all Dads are able to attend this day as our breakfast meeting last year was an outstanding success. For many Dads this day may provide a rare opportunity for them to bring their children to school and participate during their learning time. Some Dads may need to organise or plan an RDO with their employer. In order to cater for morning tea/breakfast please complete the slip below and return to school ASAP (only once please).
