Welcome back and Happy New Year!!! I hope that everyone had a wonderful, relaxing, safe holiday. Although the time off is great, it’s good to get back into routine.
Our annual Christmas concert, held at Seaway District High School, was an overwhelming success. We
are so thankful for the support of our community at these events.
The office door is always open. Please feel free to stop in any time to chat, discuss ideas, or bring
forward any questions or concerns.
Free the Children
Iroquois Public School is having a
guest speaker come on Thursday, January 15 for grades 4-6
from 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.
Student Council News
Student Council would like to thank all of the IPS
community for the amazing support given at the
White Elephant Sale. It was once again a huge success. Students had a great time doing their Christmas
shopping. Many thanks go to our volunteer helpers
from Whitteker’s Bus Line and Lions Club. Student
Council was able to donate $760 to the Lions
Club. What an excellent opportunity for our students
to learn about helping the community.
Open House for Parents of Kindergarten Aged Students
Registration for kindergarten aged students for September 2015 is now open. You can
register on-line at https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/Kindergarten_Registration.
At Iroquois Public School we offer full-time early French Immersion kindergarten under
the supervision of a teacher and an early childhood educator. Students attend school every day, all day. On
Tuesday, February 10, we will be hosting an Open House for parents of kindergarten aged students from
2:30 p.m.—4:30 p.m. Children turning 4 or 5 in 2015 are eligible to register. Parents will have the
opportunity to learn more about the kindergarten program, ask questions, meet staff, tour the school and do
online registrations. We will need the child’s birth certificate and immunization records to complete the
registration process. Please contact our principal, Kelty Grant, by calling the school at 613-652-4580 or via
email at [email protected] if you would like more information.
Volunteer Corner
We are looking for volunteers who would be able to come into the school to play math games with pairs of
students. It could be as little as 20 – 40 minutes once a week, or as much as 20 – 40 minutes each day.
There is no set time – you are welcome to come whenever it works for you. If you are able to help out,
please call the school and ask for Mrs. Grant, send an email ([email protected]) or send a private
message on the school Facebook page.
