Do You Know About eHome America?
eHome America is based on NeighborWorks America's Realizing the American Dream curriculum and is
designed to provide online pre-purchase education for the potential homeowner who cannot make it in
to a regular education class due to childcare, schedule or remote location. It was developed as a
partnership between NeighborWorks America and Community Ventures Corporation (CVC), a
NeighborWorks Chartered Member based in Lexington, Kentucky. eHome is approved for use by USDA
nationally and accepted for all of their products which require a homebuyer certificate.
In Washington State, eHome is offered exclusively through a NeighborWorks funded collaboration of
NeighborWorks of Grays Harbor County, HomeSight and Community Frameworks. Between the three,
all of the counties in Washington state are covered, and other organizations cover ID, OR, and MT, listed
below by state, organization, and then county. At this time eHome is accepted by USDA nationally and of
course by NeighborWorks America, and we are working on getting it approved for the House Key loan
program (part of the State Housing Finance Commission) requirements here in Washington. Fannie
Mae, Freddie, FHA, VA etc. do not require the certificate.
eHome requires a follow-up counseling appointment call that must be completed by the client after they
finish the course in order for them to receive their certificate. This is stated on our page,
http://www.ehomeamerica.org/communityframeworks.
The course is also offered in Spanish for those that may be more comfortable learning in that language.
eHome America represents a great opportunity for you to serve the portion of your clients that you
cannot for one reason or another serve. Since the certificate is good for USDA products which require a
homebuyer certificate, it is especially helpful for use with USDA 502 loans.
