LINEGUARD - 8 SHORT TO EARTH Professional Speaker Line Monitor LINE RESET START LINE DISCONNECT 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 SHORT CIRCUID MEASURE Lineguard - 8 General information’s: To guarantee the correct function of the speaker in a voice alarming system, the speaker lines must be checked in regular interval. In complex installation this test may be time extensive. With the Lineguard Basic, 100V-Speaker-lines and all there connections and cables will automatically be monitored. This system is an easy solution at a low price, that still fulfils all the specifications of the voice alarming norm (EN 60849) concerning the speaker lines monitoring. The Lineguard Basic checks upto maximal 8 speaker-lines for the following failures: short-circuit, open line and earth-error (grounded speaker-line). During the calibration the system checks automatically all the ports for connected speaker-lines and save the line information into a non volatile memory as a reference. Detected lines failure (open, short) will not be saved and will still uninstall. Correct working and installed speaker-lines will be displayed corresponding green lighted LED on the font of the Lineguard. as After the correct installation, the speaker-lines will be checked in regular adjustable time intervals for open lines, shorts and grounding errors. The measuring sequence can also be controlled by an external timer providing a dry contact on the trigger-port at the rear of the system. LINEGUARD - 8 A manual measurement can be activated by pressing the START-key on the system front. If during a line-check a mismatch or a failure is detected on a speaker-line the corresponding line LED will start blinking fast and parallely light up the red error type LED. If more than one error have occurred at the same time, the line number will be shown alternatively in the 7-Segment display together with the corresponding error-type LED, the internal alarm sound will start and the error-out port (relay dry contact) will be closed. The internal alarm sound can be stop by pressing the „RESET“ key the error-out port (Relay) will stay activated (closed), an so guarantee the error transmition to upper and higher control system. In case of an short-circuit the defective line will be disconnected from the amplifier, assuring by this way the save function of parallel connected lines. Installed volume regulator must be set to a constant value during the line test. For this purpose the Lineguard provide eight dry contact ports that will be closed while measuring the line. Emergency call relay with different voltage, integrated in the volume-regulator can so be controlled through these ports. An integrated watchdog function will reset the all system in case of a Processor malfunction. The saved data’s and the system parameters will not get lost by this function. Every of this reset will be registrated and increases the Watch-Dog counter. The Lineguard store the last 99 errors into a special memory witch can be read out through the serial port (RS232) to a PC-using (Windows HyperTerminal). The Lineguard (Line monitoring system) can be used as a stand alone system, and is working independently from AGS (Amplifier monitoring) or other monitoring systems from other manufacturer. The IEC 60849 specifies the necessary requirement of a complete voice announcement-system. A single component like the Lineguard or the AGS can help to reach this standard. For example (the best cable, Amplifier or Speakers) alone, will never be able to fulfil the IEC requirement. Only the whole installation with the correct components and wiring in accordance to the location security level will make the system conformity. _________________________________________________________ LINEGUARD - 8 Description: Lineguard Basic checks up to 8 Speaker-lines. Each line will be tested on: Short-circuit, open line, Ground-error. There are 3 possibilities to start a measurement: Internal (Timer DIP-Switch setting) Start-key (Front panel) External Time-trigger (dry contact) Each detected mismatch or line failure will be announced by an alarm sound and displayed on a 7 Segment Display and on Line and Error-type LED. If more than one error happens at the same time, the line number will be shown alternatively in the 7-Segment display together with the corresponding error-type LED. Pressing the RESET-key will only Stops the alarming sound but will not affect the error relay witch will still be activated. The line check can be delayed or blocked when closing (dry contact) the Block-port. If the port is activated a „E“ will be shown in the 7 Segmentdisplay. The line test will still block as long as the port activation. While measuring a line 3 relay will be activated. The first is dedicated to the measured line and 2 undedicated. These can be used for Emergency Volume-regulator. The Power fail relay will be activated when the whether the system is turn off or main power fails. The Lineguard can work with 24 Volt connected on the rear of the system. redundancy power The option Earth (ground) error check can be desactivated .
