Arriva
Inside the site, a traffic-free cycle/ pedestrian path
allows access to sheltered cycle parking facilities.
Remember, cycling from Cramlington railway
station or town centre to the hospital should only
take around 10 minutes. If you live further away,
up to two bicycles can be carried on all trains
stopping at Cramlington station, free of charge
with no reservation required. The hospital is
clearly signposted from the station.
Metro
Why not avoid the traffic and enjoy a
comfortable journey on the Metro?
The Metro network provides easy access to
the hospital from all over Tyne and Wear,
via bus connections at Northumberland Park
and Percy Main stations: bus route 19 passes
both these stations and then stops directly
outside the hospital. Other bus connections are
available from Haymarket, Regent Centre, and
Monkseaton Metro stations, amongst others.
Cyclists coming from further afield can find
recommended routes in Northumberland
County Council’s cycle map. This is available in
paper form from libraries or by emailing
[email protected]
or download from
GoSmarterNorthumberland.co.uk
As well as the Klondyke Footbridge shown on the
map, pedestrian crossing signals are available to
safely cross the B1505 and B1326 roads.
Walking the signposted routes from Cramlington
railway station and Manor Walks to the hospital
should take around 30 minutes. As well as saving
money, it can help you get your daily dose of
exercise!
For a personalised walking route visit walkit.com
and select ‘Cramlington’.
Car
The hospital can be reached by car using the
national trunk road network, using the postcode
NE23 6NZ. Car parking for both visitors and
employees is available on site, see map overleaf.

Wansbeck
Road
Free, dedicated visitor shuttle services operate
from North Tyneside General Hospital (NTGH) and
Wansbeck General Hospital (WGH). They leave
both NTGH and WGH at 14.00, 15.00 and 18.00,
in order to arrive at Northumbria hospital for the
visiting times of 14.30 - 16.00 and 18.30 - 19.30.
Return services leave Northumbria at 15.30, 16.30
and 20.00 to bring you back to NTGH and WGH.
It’s easy to access the hospital by bike - there is
an excellent network of traffic-free, streetlit cycle
paths, as shown on the map overleaf. Cyclists can
either use the quieter Klondyke Footbridge route,
or cycle on the B1326 to the hospital access road.

From early June 2015, a direct shuttle bus, service
C1, will operate between Cramlington railway
station, Manor Walks shops, and the hospital’s
main entrance. The C1 service operates every 30
minutes, Monday to Friday (around lunchtime,
services C2 and C3 operate from Manor Walks
instead). A normal fare is payable on all these
buses, and Arriva bus passes are also accepted.
Bus travel is inexpensive and easy. A number of
bus routes can be used to access the hospital from
North Tyneside, Newcastle and Northumberland.
Many of these routes run either directly past or
within a few minutes’ walk of the hospital. Some
buses travel to Manor Walks in the town centre,
from where you can catch another bus to reach
the hospital.
If you live locally you can easily access the hospital
on foot using the same safe, traffic-free cycle
paths described above, as well as the wider
highway pavement network.
