The Department of Geography and Economic History is recruiting a PhD student starting
September 1, 2015 in collaboration with the Graduate School of Gender studies, Umeå
University http://www.ucgs.umu.se/. The department is located at Umeå University and has
around 70 employees including about 20 PhD students.

Eligibility requirements and assessment criteria
Eligible applicants must fulfill the following prerequisites: 240 ECTS-credits of higher
education studies of which at least 60 should be on an advanced level (Master level), at least
90 credits must be in social and economic geography or related disciplines, and at least 30
credits must be awarded for successful thesis work in social and economic geography or
related disciplines.
In cases where your studies were completed prior to 1 July 2007, other prerequisites apply.

from the doctoral-level education they will receive.

1. Research proposal (no more than five pages excluding references), including the project’s
