2. Training: Please work on training your foster dog for basic household manners.
Please do not allow table begging, counter surfing, door dashing, jumping on
people or other behaviours that are undesirable by most adopters. Please do
encourage positive behaviours such as sitting before eating, down, wait, walking
nicely on a leash, riding nicely in vehicles, come, stay, any tricks you feel like
teaching, and any other desirable behaviours. Please crate train your foster dog.
3. Supplies: If supplies are needed to be supplied by SHARP, there is a deposit fee
to help ensure our equipment gets back to us once your dog is adopted. Any
collars/leashes/tags provided for the foster dog go with the dog at adoption.
Deposit fees are returned upon receipt of the supplies. Failure to return the
supplies shall result in the foster paying the full retail value of the supplies (or
similar supply – at rescue discretion) and no return of deposit. The deposit fees
are as follows:
Crate - $60
Bowls - $5
Food: SHARP will provide 1 large (or equivalent) donated bag of food to feed
the foster dog per month. This food is to be used ONLY for the foster dog, not your
personal dogs. Once the foster is adopted, any remaining food may be kept for the
next foster, donated to a shelter or rescue near you, returned to SHARP, or used for
your personal dog if it is half a bag or less. If the foster so desires, the foster dog may
be fed the food of their choice; at foster’s expense.
4. Daily care: Please leave a leash on your foster dog at all times – including in the
house. They are a flight risk and having a leash on them makes them easier to
catch if they do try to bolt. Having a leash on also makes breaking up a dog fight
easier in the event of one occurring. The collar and any tags MUST ALWAYS
BE ON and TIGHT! This cannot be emphasized enough.
5. Administrative duties: Please take lots of photos! Cute photos help dogs get
adopted! Please also write a bio for your foster dog which includes any quirks,
problem behaviours, known commands, behaviours with other dogs/people, etc.
We also appreciate your assistance in reviewing adoption applications with us that
are for your foster dog; or a home we feel your foster dog may fit well in. No one
knows your foster dog better than you! Your assistance in reviewing will help to
ensure a successful adoption. Keep SHARP up to date with any new photos or
any new information to add to the bio on the dogs adoption profile. Adoption fee
collection: If the dogs adopters choose to pay cash at the adoption, it is your
responsibility to get the adoption fee to us in a timely manner – whether that be
mailing the cash, or depositing into your account and e-transferring it to us. We
ask to receive it within the week – the sooner the better. You will be responsible
for printing out, receiving, scanning and sending the signed adoption contract at
the time of adoption. The previous owner section can be filled out by you if it is
not already filled out by the rescue. Home visits: If the potential adopter is in your

area, the home visit is best done by you. Again, you know the dog. If you cannot
do it, that is ok, but it is greatly beneficial and appreciated if you do.
6. OUT OF AREA Vetting: SHARP will try their best to ensure this dog is UTD on
rabies at the least prior to arriving at foster. If that is not possible, please take the
dog in for a rabies vaccination ONLY at a vet near you contact Melissa at
[email protected] to arrange reimbursement. Promptly affix the
rabies tag to the dog’s collar. No intact female dogs over the age of 1 year shall be
placed in foster.
***In the event of veterinary emergency, regardless of foster location, the foster
shall seek veterinary attention immediately and communicate with SHARP.
SHARP shall pay the vet directly via credit card over the phone if accepted; or
reimburse the foster***
7. Adoption events: If there is an adoption event near you that SHARP has a booth
at; your attendance is much appreciated. If there are no events near you, business
cards will accompany the dog on transport or be mailed. Please hand them out
when anyone asks about adopting your foster dog; or the breed in general. The
best way to spread the word is word of mouth. SHARP or a representative may
pick up your foster dog and take it to an event if necessary.
8. Time frame: Some foster dogs move quickly while some can take months to be
adopted. Please be sure you are able to commit to fostering for a minimum of 3
months up to 6 or more months. If you go board your dogs as well as the foster
dog within 6 months of the date of this agreement, SHARP shall only be
responsible for ONE HALF of the boarding fees for the foster dog ONLY.
9. This dog is the property of SHARP – Siberian Husky Assistance & Rescue
Program. This dog shall not be sold, adopted or otherwise relocated without
the knowledge and permission of SHARP. The foster shall be liable for the
adoption fee, plus any vetting expenses if the dog is not presented at the
intended time of adoption.
10. SHARP shall be notified immediately of any aggressive behaviour. If needed, the
dog shall be put on the soonest possible transport back to SHARP. The foster
shall not euthanize any dog without first communicating with SHARP.
I/ We the foster(s) hereby agree to the contract set out above
