We led at every break but Xavier was tenacious and took the lead several times in the third quarter. Strong defensive play and calm thinking prevailed. To win the premiership from here we must work on reducing turnovers and unforced errors. A fabulous game for the spectators from two quality teams. We lacked the aggressiveness of previous games and stuggled to penetrate the opposition defenses. Poor passing, lack of communication and limited rebounding prevented us from matching Xavier in the first half. The latter part of thematch saw some of our usual self to produce a more even performance. A strong start and 2nds Blue L.Linehan J.Bianco Xavier College L 39 to 45 MVP: Liam Devine, Joshua Sheeran, Harry Chandler. Points: Marcus Uzunovski 9, Zac Passmore 7, Lester Lo 6, James Trnacek 6. 8 to 27 A well drilled Caufield outfit employed double defence and quickly turned the ball over right from the get go. Static passing and an over reliance on individual play meant that our talls were starved of the ball Best: Alex Hughes, Gabriel Shaw, Will Wright under the net. Cauflields full court press in the second period secured them victory as the score board ticked over in their favour. The individual efforts of Gabriel Shaw and Alex Hughes in particular meant that the growing margin to Caulfield did not become an avalanche. 3rds Blue A.Coyne J.Davis CGS Caulfield L 3rds Green A.Coyne J.Davis CGS Wheelers Hill L 22 to 28 Best: Dom Sullivan, Patrick Mulquiny, Ben Simkiss A reluctance to use the full width of the court, and commit to three passes before going to the boards saw quick turn over once again this round. We were back to something resembling our best in the second period, but it was not sustained. If we can addressing our panic fuelled passing and use our talls to better effect, we will come away with the chocolates. 4ths Blue P.Mitchell F.Tomaras Xavier College W 39 to 23 Scorers: Tom Gill (9) Phil (6) Harry Conway (6) Best Players: Tom Gill, Harry Conway, Phil Another well played game by the boys to knock off a fast moving Xavier outfit. Despite having our defence put to the test at the start of the game, SKC managed to put on a show on offence, with great passing, ball movement and sound teamwork ensuring the win. 4ths Green P.Mitchell F.Tomaras CGS Caulfield L 26 to 28 Points: James McPherson 8, Pat Dommisse 7, Daniel Gerraghty. Best players: Daniel Gerraghty, Julian Stromei, James McPherson A fantastic game to watch with intense defence from both sides being the highlight. The passing in offence was mostly spot on with the occasional error. If fitness, passing, shooting and rebounding improves then this team will be hard to beat. A very strategic game this week with boys focussing on what they were each good at. John Walton was dynamic in both defence and attack and scored well despite Xavier's best efforts at defence. Hector Ryan's three pointer was impressive and set the tone for success on the morning. Dante Di Paolo and Nathan Nardella both worked well on defence, moving into space as required. Henry Leng and Cooper Herbert were both terrific guards. A tough game against a very skilled Peninsula outfit, boys competed well fo rhe first half but struggled to keep up in the second. James Gook was back to his best after some time on the sidelines with injury. Finn Haughey and Jordan Moran were dynamic arounfd both the offence and defence and managed to snare some brillant three pointers. Sound team work and a desire to nail their victory to the mast ensured another convincing win for the Blue Boomers. Best Players: Henry Piner, Damian Redenbach, Sam van der Vlies Points: S Van der Vlies 9 In what was a frsutrating first half SKC struggled to get into the match early with some shots missed from good offense whilst allowing Xavier to score far too easily. Rebounding again was costly as Xavier were afforded too many second chance points and SKC were unable to stop the penetration and easily scores around the basket. The second half was a far better performance where SKC were able to match the Xavier intensity but the gap was far too large to close. Best: Will Jensen, William Heanue, Thomas Fairlie A great team effort with a convincing win over Geelong. The SKC boys started a bit slow but then the defence improved and some great passing resulted in the boys gaining the lead which they never gave up. A strong second half saw the boys make good decisions and it resulted in easy scoring. Points: Alex Capuano 10, Patrick Marshall 6, Julian Tkalec 6. Best: Alex Capuano, Patrick Marshall, Julian Tkalec. A slow paced, grind-it-out game, however the boys remained composed, and found success through driving and finding open lanes. Defence was impressive all game, and ultimately kept the opposition from taking the lead during their run in the final minutes. 38 to 12 From the first basket of the game SKC never looked back, Harrison Leeds and Jake Patterson doing well with the offensive rebounds and Best Players: Harrison Leeds (12), Maverick sealing points with good second efforts. Ben Ciarma and Will Cameron provided great rebounding and a scoring presence inside, while Fabian Battista knocked down outside jumpers and Blake Lawson played terrific defence, initating many fastbreaks. We hope to continue with this form into next week. The boys were just too strong for their Xavier opponents. This week we saw improved boxing out and rebounding, an excellent inside and outside game and good execution of the offense. We showed our strong depth and athleticism as a team. A close match throughout, SKC couldn't open a large enough lead which lead to a see-sawing affair. In the second half, Brighton was able to hit plenty of long rage jump shots including several threes, being able to open up their lead. To the boys credit they fought back hard and were able to bring the score to within 5 with under a minute. Strong defensive pressure lead to a steal with 15 seconds to go, Harrison Trotter stood up and hit a quick three to bring it within two. Quickly fouling, Brighton had two shots, missing both. With a quick offensive possession needed, SKC pushed the ball up the floor and unfortunately couldn't get a clean shot up, going down by two. A well played game by the whole team. 8B Green S.White Brighton GS W 40 to 25 Points: Connor Britten (16), Domenic Morelli (9), Jack Livens (8) Cameron Serpell (2) Noah Youssef (2) Harry Cosgrave (2) Declan Hammon (1). Best players: Jack Livens, Connor Britten, Domenic Morelli Jumping out to an early lead, SKC were able to control the tempo of the match and hold off a strong offensively focused Brighton squad. Strong ball handling and leadership by Jack Livens running the point helped guide the team. The big men of the team were able to stand up strong in defence and limit the attacking options by restricting Brighton's big men from having shots close in. Strong game by all. 8C Blue T.Kuiper D.Grubnic Brighton GS W 40 to 18 Best Players: Lachlan Nieuwenhuizen, Jacob Coulston, Harrison Raffaele A tight first half characterised by good shooting from both teams led to a fairly even contest after half time. St Kevin's improved on the defense in the second half applying excellent passing pressure and inhibiting Brighton's outside shooting. The half was accented by good defensive rebounding by Daniel Barton and Campbell McEwen. A string of excellent drives by Harrison Raffaele and Jacob Coulston meant the game confortably fell to St Kevins. 8C Green T.Kuiper D.Grubnic Brighton GS W 44 to 4 Points: Pat Montero (19), Kevin Huang (8), Will Rowlings (7). M. Hussey led the first lap out well and was supported by W. Lewis and B. Tipper in the lead pack. The scond lap saw many of the boys close well and pick up a number of placings on route to an impressive effort from the large squad. O. Lane, M. Leiner, H. Hartney The Intermediate team performed well despite a number of boys competing in the senior division over the longer distance. O. Lane transferred his form from the training track over the past fortnight and was the first Int runner over the line followed by M. Leiner, H. Hartney and F. Davern. A good first APS race and encouraging signs for the team as they prepare for State Road Relays next week at Albert Park. H. Bowen, A. Down, J. Our midfield rallied in the second and won the contested footy around the ground as we fought back. Lachlan Fogarty was outstanding in the midfield as was Kane 'Dukes' O'Hallaran up forward booting 7 goals in a dominant display. In the final term our hard running and intensity proved far too strong for Wesley as we recorded a 9 goal win. This week we take on old rivals Xavier at home as we strive for redemption from last years loss. Despite some good play, poor entries into the forward line and inaccuracy in front of goal did not allow opportunities to be converted in goals. It was a much better second quarter with great work from the mid-fielders and an open forward line producing a seven goal quarter. The team continued to work hard in the second half. The boys continue to improve on their game play and creating space through run. The boys took the lead in the second quarter and would have scored better but for some inaccuracy in front of the goals. Hard work through the midfield and good defensive work ensured we came home with a win against a strong Carey outfit. Facing a MGS side for the second time in three weeks, the result was much the same as our first encounter. The SKC 4th XVIII completely dominated in the midfield, thanks to strong contributions from Christie, Gamble and Tighe. Seven first quarter goals and a strong contribution up forward from Tom Campbell and Angus Campbell, saw SKC jump out to an early seven goal lead at the first break. Ben Field-Pimm was a rock in defence and the MGS side found scoring tough in the first half, going into the main break with just one goal on the board, while the SKC midfield brigade of Fahey, Arthur, Gorman and Walk extended the lead to 11 goals at the half. The second half saw much of the same, with SKC eventually running out big winners for the second time this season. Scotch College came out strong in the first quarter on Saturday morning, controlling the clearances and slicing through the St Kevin's backline and at the first break St Kevin's would be looking to close the Goals: Finn O'Sullivan 2, Connor McDade 2, gap on a 3 goal margin. Best: Grindon-Ekins, Flynn Lohan, Michael Howell, Liam Clifford, Patrick Lee After an unlucky first quarter where we hit the woodwork twice, Brighton Grammar asserted its dominance in the second term. Our indecisiveness with the ball and at the contest was punished by the opposition, who set up what was to be a match winning lead. A minicomeback in the third quarter was stymied by sloppy ball use but we remained dogged until the final siren. The tenacity of Patrick Lee, after he was swung down back was a highlight, as well as a cameo of physicality by Will Hannan, who laid a particularly meaty slice of shepherd’s pie on his unwitting adversary. While the scoreboard did not reflect it, the 8A team's effort was fantastic for the entire game. The team pressured well against a very talented opposition. The backline held up especially well considering how much time the ball spent in Xavier's forward line. There was significant improvement from last week to this week, and this is the focus for next week too. However, being faced with the possibilty of the mercy rule, the boys stood tall in the second half, keeping Caulfield to only 4 goals after half time. A determined push by all players, against the A grade skills of the opposition meant the boys could hold their heads high, playing out the game without the assisstance of the mercy rule. 2-5-17 to 15-11-101 Goals: Matthew Adams & Patrick McCabe Best: Tim O'Halloran, Matthew Adams, Harrison Martin, Daniel Gambell, Charles Liptak, Adam Woolhouse, Stephen Moffat, Linus Smith It was another big loss as SKC was dominated all over the ground. Our best quarters were the 1st and last. With no bench it was a hard game for all the boys. The 8D's kept working at it against the 8B's from Haileybury. The boys now know the standard of 7As football competition it is a lot stronger and faster than local club football. Our ability to win games will come from how we team together and do the role you are asked to do each game and each quarter. If you go outside our game structures and positional roles we will not work as a team. So when playing forward lead hard contest in the air and on the ground and pressure your opponents when they get the ball. In midfield we need to be more aggressive in our physciality at the contest and force the ball forward with stronger kicks when our handballing options aren' available. Defenders need to focus on defending their man from getting the ball, then become running handball options if we win the football. Our focus for the coming week will be tackling and being strong in the tackle when being tackled. 7A H.Stone B.De Jong Xavier Burke Hall L 7-6-48 to 12-7-79 Goals: Robert Larcher and Conor Lynch 2 goals each, Kobe Cikala, Nick Dynan and Lachie Groves 1 goals each. The boys came up against a very physical and strong Geelong side. The first 25min saw no points and a hard battle. Geelong received 2 yellow cards for poor dicipline but unfortuately SKC were still unable to capatalise. The latter end of the half saw SKC start to improve in their patterns and game structure which led to two well excuted tries. Fast-strong rucking led to the retention of ball and meters up the paddock. SKC executed and technical lineout maul with led to Aaron George sliding over the white paint. It was a great physical incounter by the forwards who stood up to the bigger opposition and took delight in winning the contest at the ball. 41 to 0 Tries: Mason Lanyon (2), Alexander MacDonald (3), James Lyons, Hugh Vuillier. After 3 years without a win against Geelong Grammar, the 2nd XV put in a commanding performance to avenge the titanic Grand Final defeat of 2015. Every one of the 20 players did themselves and their College extremely proud with tenacious defending, ferocious rucking and precise kicking and handling. SKC dominated their opponents in every facet of the game and pleasingly did not concede a single point thanks to superb defence. It is hard to pick best players as everyone was outstanding, but special congratulations to Mason Lanyon for his brace of tries and to Alexander MacDonald for a superb hat-trick. 26 to 0 Tries: Masi, Herbert-Morgan, Savea and Hazel-Polkinghorne Conversions Peel [3] A very much improved performance by the U16XV saw them run out comfortable winners against a resilient GGS side on Saturday morning. Looking to address their level of consistency in defence, and indeed in their breakdown work, the U16s duly bore the fruits of tough training week with a pleasing display of running rugby. Tested early in the second-half from a defensive sense the side did well to maintain their line and keep GGS scoreless with two tries in each half securing a bonus point win. SPB away this coming weekend will be a brilliant test for a side starting to adapt to Senior Rugby. 55 to 0 Tries: Daniel Smart 4, Eamonn Mahon, Cooper Lanyon, Leo Evans, James Hill, Angus Farnan. Conversions: Eamonn Mahon 5. Best: Harris Nilsen, Samuel Kerr, Edward Beaney. The 9 Blue team quickly established dominance against a large Xavier side through aggressive physicality. While running away with the game in the first half, the boys lacked discipline in their structure and were benefitting from the opposition's errors rather than their own accuracy. This changed in the second half as Angus Farnan and Declan and Charles Conroy guided the team's attacking shape, which helped to produce some excellently worked tries. This combined with many players still developing their defensive techniques saw Scotch cross our line on a number of occasions. Year 8 C.Pain C.Buys Haileybury W 31 to 5 Tries: Tighe O'Donoghue, Billy Daffern, Jasper Kidman, Tom McClellan, Finn Cross. Lucas Van Schaaik 3 conversions SKC played with far greater structure and composure than their opponents in a keenly contested game. The forwards set the platform for constant back line attacking moves and the whole team defended their line well. Year 7 M.Senior J.Whitehead Brighton GS W 53 to 0 Coach Opponent Win/Loss Score Best: Luke Lourey, Jasper Burley, Samuel Parker A pleasing game for reasons other than the scoreline. The boys started to show some structured attack, putting what they learned at training into practice. The forwards are improving week on week with improved lineout jumping. The backs were organised in attack and the communication is improving. The whole team were willing to keep the ball alive with good support, offloading out of tackles and darting runs up the side of the ruck which built sustained pressure which was converted to points. Both sides came into the game fired up and the intensity was high from the outset. Wesley broke the deadlock late in the first half through a floated free kick to lead 1-0 into halftime. St Kevin's displayed great character to fight back from the deficit after the break, winning a penalty to draw the scores level, before Connor Rafferty's well-timed header put them in front 2-1. Unfortunately this was not enough, as Wesley regained momentum in the final 10 minutes and scored two swift goals to come out eventual victors 3-2. Despite the score-line, the boys should be incredibly proud of their attitude, fighting hard until the very end. In what was a highly physical match, the boys could have gotten caught up in the heat of the game, but demonstrated great sportsmanship throughout, and were graceful in defeat. 6 to 3 Goals: Simon Moor 2, Michael Kennedy 2, Xander Arbuthnot 1, Oskar Rausa 1 Best Players: Michael Kennedy, Lachlan Balia, Fabian Bowers 9 to 0 Goals: Kiro Labib, Tom Lunny, Zach Dakis, Dion DiBattista, Callen Neasmith, Matthew Pezzutti Best Players: Ayrton Zuglian, Nick Rogers, Anthony Salib and Kiro Labib. 7 to 0 Goals : Jordan Weatherall 4, Declan Spreadborough 2, Josh Cosgriff 1 Best Players: Jordan Weatherall, Oscar Youren, Declan Spreadborough, Louis Rogers. The SKC boys dominated the first half, working together with excellent communication to score 4 unanswered goals before the break. The opposition returned fire in the second half, scoring 3 goals in under 15 minutes which shook our confidence, and for a moment we looked like we might have been in trouble. But the SKC boys regrouped and responded, finding their rhythm and managing two more goals in an incredible display of teamwork. It took barely minutes into the game to discover that Wesley was totally outclassed by the SKC Fourths. We shot 2 - 0 in the first half and an astounding 9 - 0 to finish. We were very luck to have guest players Zach Dakis, Tom Gleeson and Josh Park. Zach Dakis effortlessly became part of our team showing finesse, passing and shooting a spectacular float into the top left corner. Dion Di Battista took a long shot which mesmerised the opposition in just watching it roll by into the goal. Christian Siebel kept crossing in to pass the glory to other players while keeper Harrsion Giavris performed a great save in the second half. What a team! So proud! After a tight first half, where we found it difficult to beat a very competent keeper, the score was 1 to 0 and we knew we had a game on our hands. We needed to adopt a more effective attacking setup and to impose ourselves upon the game. As the second half began, the opposition had a new keeper and to the team's credit a more aggressive attacking game style. The defense worked brilliantly together to repel each opposition attack with poise and considered ball movement. The boys attacked in numbers and placed the opposition under enormous pressure. 6 unanswered goals – including a belter by Josh Cosgriff!!! - resulted in an emphatic, well-deserved win. Well done to all the boys on a great team effort! Goals: Jack Bascombe 1, Sahil Singh 1. Best Players: Jack Bascombe, Harry Hingston, Marcus Castellana. A hard fought victory from a worthy opposition that threw everything they had against us. The first half was definitely the team's strongest with well worked goals, surgically set up by Hingston, Duncan and Kelly then delivered home by Bascombe and Singh. The second half saw both teams slowing from fatigue but neither was willing to give an inch. Wonderful swing kicks by Battisca and a very memorable over the head rainbow flick by Hingston let Scotch know we were not about to relent! This was supported by a re-grouped defense from Gikas, Thein, Healy and Lee who thwarted an incredibly fast and skilled Scotch striker. 7 to 1 Goals: James Attard 3, Somerled Young 2, Patrick Gornall 1, Joseph Yugumbari 1. Best Players: James Attard, Alexander Woodyatt, Somerled Young The team settled into the game well, with goals from Pat Gornall and Somer Young. However, a goal from Geelong led to a nervous end to the first half, with SKC holding back Geelong but unable to capitalise on their earlier momentum, going into the break 2-1 up. The second half started in a nervous manner too, however the boys quickly found their rhythm and began dominating possession. Goals to Joey Yugumbari and a second for Somer were just reward for the boys' dominance, with the win capped off by a James Attard hat-trick. 4 to 2 Goals: Dean Gerszonovicz 2, Massimo Acquaro 1, Andre Farnan-Aarons 1. Best Players: Jack Lunn, Thomas Fogarty, Massimo Acquaro. The first part of the game saw the 10 As' backline needing to adapt quickly to a very fast Wesley team. The first goal was scored by Andre Farnan-Aaron but Wesley came back and after the half-time break, the 10 A's came back more determined. The result demonstrated a strong desire by the whole team to bring home a wonderful win. 0 to 1 Best Players: Eric Chen, Noah Cosgriff, Sean Howey and Abel Scopelliti This was a close encounter throughout the match. The score was 0-0 for the majority of the game, with each team coming incredibly close in breaking the deadlock. Sadly for SKC, Scotch got some good luck with a fortunate deflection which allowed them to take a shot on goal and score. Noah Cosgriff and Sean Howey worked particularly hard to redress the balance, but time was not on our side. In the end it was a flattering scoreline for Scotch, although the SKC boys should be exremely proud of their workrate and effort. 4 to 1 Goals: Stefan Raszka 1, Tom Kennedy 1, Lachlan Hood 1 Best Players: Stefan Raszka, Lachlan Hood, Josh Lopez, Tom Kennedy An even first half but this was mainly due to problems with our forward structure. In an action packed second half, the 10C's dominated the game with fast running, skilful ball use and good communication around the field. The boys played intelligent, efficient soccer and outclassed their opposition on every level. As in the past two games, the whole team contributed to a great win. Another victory for the10Ds this week! We grappled with some quality footwork from the opposing side but our defence was strong and we deflected many tries at goal. The second half saw Haileybury a lot Goals: Will Thomas 2, Stefan Raszka 1, Sam stronger but it was not enough to intimidate and we scored the Duff 1 majority of our goals at this time. Haileybury won their goal from a Best Players: Will Thomas, Harry Sipos penalty but Julian was strong nonetheless. Best Players: Maxwell Tribe, William Sullivan and Matthew Kim The team had a couple of injuries so we were lucky to have some help from some 9A and 9C players who had a bye. In the first half, the team was a bit unsettled but a penalty and a second goal gave the team the confidence to keep on playing. The second half Wesley counter attacked but Maxwell Tribe managed to leave our goal clear. A more settled and organised second half saw us victorious with a 5-0 win overall. The boys' fair play and behaviour was once again superb. 3 to 8 Goals: Harrison Fitzgerald 1, Nicholas Kimura 1, Michael Athanasiadis 1. Best players: Laurence Downie, Harrison Fitzgerald, Nicholas Kimura. In a re-match against last week's opposition, SKC attempted implementation of some new strategies with success. Against a taller opposition, the team attempted to keep a strong defensive line and use the wings to their advantage. Laurence Downie and Harrison Fitzgerald ran the match with energy and Nicholas Kimura played intelligently and efficiently. Unfortunately, the scoreboard crept higher and a birthday goal proved elusive for Charles Boyle-Bryant. 9B F.Astudillo Wesley Glen Waverley W 5 to 0 9C R.Kerr Bye Bye Bye 9D Blue P.Roberts Xavier Black L 9D Green S.Berkely Brighton GS W 7 to 6 Goals: Nicholas Kanakis 4, Patrick Carman 2, Tom Swift 1 Best players: - Kanakis, Carman, Swift, Cooper 8A S.Odachowski Xavier Kostka Hall W 1 to 0 Goal: Liam Foo Best Players: 3 - Felix Borger, 2 - Joseph Romero, 1 - Liam Foo 8B Blue 8B Green 8C H.Anderson J.Pollard L.Smith Haileybury Geelong College Melbourne GS L D L A sensational game that saw 13 goals scored in an hour of soccer. a 3 all half-time score turned into a 7/6 victory keeping the trend of running out strong second halves going. EVERYONE made significant contributions and despite three penalties to nil and 4 un-noticed handballs, the boys came away with a stirling victory. Most enjoyable!! This Saturday the SKC 8A's went up against Xavier Kostka Hall. It started off as a very even game, both sides knocking the ball around nicely, both teams getting shots. Neither side was able to capitalise on any of their chances. In the first half though, SKC did seem to create a few nice passes, but overall it was a sloppy attempt by all the boys. The first half ended with neither side scoring. In the second half, SKC came out firing and were eager to put one away. Hard work from all the players seemed to pay off, because SKC were dominating the game. With 10 minutes to go in the game, SKC won a free kick in a vulnerable position. Joey Romero stepped up to take the free kick. He whipped the ball right into the box and Liam Foo was there to get a foot on the ball - a very well worked goal. For the rest of the game, SKC's defence held on strongly, not letting in any goals. 2 to 3 Goals: Andrew, Jack. Best Players: Connor, Marco, Jack A great game by the SKC players saw excellent exploitation of the wings including crosses from Riley and Jarrod that were narrowly missed at the near post. Haileybury went up first and the scores sat at one nil as the first half closed. An excellent play from Leni through the box before cutting it back to Andrew meant an equaliser. Teams exchanged goals, however Haileybury proved to capitalise on their chances better. Final score 2-3. 3 to 3 Goals: Finn McMahon, Luca Zavattiero, Davis Alexander. Best Players: Davis Alexander, Joshua Locandro, Tom Varsamis. With the temperature cold enough to keep the milk fresh, we lined up against Geelong College's best year 8 soccer squad. A fantastic first half saw us fight our way to a 3-0 lead with all players contributing. Things didn't go our way in the second half as GC pegged back the deficit to end the game a creditable but disappointing draw. Goal: Frank Doppla D'Angelo Best Player: Hugo Postnegra It was a beautiful sunny Autumn morning for an early start of soccer. After a strong start, with the boys fighting off numerous attempts at goal during the first half, they succumbed to the first goal at the beginning of the second half. Our boys equalised quite quickly with a goal of their own, but two more slipped through for MGS. The boys showed great teamwork. 1 to 3 7A P.Karakoussis Wesley Glen Waverley W 7 to 0 7B Blue R.Thomas Haileybury W 8 to 1 7B Green 7C Blue 7C Green C.Holmes R.Cho Scotch College Haileybury L W Goals: Andrew Djirkalli (3), Hunter Hesseen (2), Alex Madden (2), Mayen Malek Best Players: Andrew Djirkalli, Max Bell, Sam Benvenuto, Hugh Evans The 7A team have gone from strength to strength, capitilising on minor errors which had kept us from optimising our chances in previous weeks. The boys worked very well moving the ball up the pitch, through accurate 1-2 passing and making the most of the open space for our wingers to run through the opposition's defence. Our midfielders should also be commended on their improved support of our defenders while maintinaing a strong hold of the gameplay in the centre. The boys had a fantastic win over Haileybury on Saturday. 8-1 did not reflect the game as Haileybury played well and were our strongest opponents to date. An early goal by A. Madden put us 1-0 up. The game then turned cagey as both teams tried to get a foothold in the match. However, 3 goals in 3 minutes made it 4-0 to St Kevin's at half time. An early second half deflected goal by Haileybury brought the score back to 4-1 before another 4 quick goals made the final score 81. Andrew Djirkalli, the hat-trick hero, was outstanding in centre midfield, he was supported by Hugh Evans who won every tackle and created many opportunities. Furthermore, Sam Benvenuto was outstanding on debut and Max Bell made a string of quality saves to only allow 1 Haileybury goal to be scored. The boys are now looking forward to the match against Scotch on Friday night. 1 to 2 Goal: Massimo Nodin Best Players: Giancarlo Ferrarro, Anthony Pauline, Massimo Nodin The boys came up against a physical and aggressive Scotch outfit. The early periods of the game were dominated by Scotch who undoubtedly started with more initiative. After two early goals, St Kevins found themselves facing an uphill battle. The boys rallied in the second half and dominated long periods of play to eventually find the back of the Scotch net. Unfortunately the boys were unable to find an equaliser. However, credit must go to them for their positive attitude and willingness to continue fighting despite falling behind early. 5 to 2 Goals: Thomas Shewring (3); Peter Mulqueeny (1); Enash Manakkil (1) Best Players: Shewring, Manakkil, Xavier Antonello, Thomas Russo, Josh Vine, Aden Tran After a shaky first half where Haileybury had the better of SKC, the boys went back on to the field with determination. They worked very well together as a team and communicated with each other. They stuck to their positions which they didn't do as well in the first half and this really paid off. Thomas Shewring was outstanding first half as goalie and then second half came away with three goals. The 7C Greens continued their unbeaten run into the third game of the season defeating an alternate Haileybury side 7-1.
