What is computer office automation Office automation refers to the varied computer machinery and software used to digitally create, collect, store, manipulate, and relay office information needed for accomplishing basic tasks and goals. 2. Explain briefly what is a word processor, spreadsheet, database and others that we can find in MS Office. Word processor - Software that provides word processing functions on a computer. Microsoft Excel – is a spreadsheet application. It features calculation, graphing tools, making tables. Database - A collection of data arranged for ease and speed of search and retrieval. Publisher - It is an entry-level application, differing from Microsoft Word in that the emphasis is placed on page layout and design rather than text composition and proofing. PowerPoint – is a presentation program. Visio – a variety of pre-drawn shapes and picture elements that can be dragged and dropped onto the illustration. Front Page – Outlook - is a personal information manager from Microsoft. 3. List and explain briefly two features that we can use in MS Word, Excel, Publisher, Access, PowerPoint and FrontPage. MS Word – can use tables and charts. Excel – Creation of charts and analysis. Publisher – Access – Use to create table and query. PowerPoint – for formatting picture. FrontPage – use to create website and web hosting. 4. Create a spreadsheet of how much we spend our money on cigarettes per weeks, per month and per year.
