Our Ethos
Aspiration
We have high expectations of all members of the school
community, staff, pupils, parents and governors.
Together we aim to support, nurture and challenge children
to achieve the very best they can in all aspects of school life.
We aim ‘high’ fostering a positive attitude towards learning;
teaching the children skills for life. We expect children to
persevere, take risks, be stretched way beyond their comfort
zone and to be resourceful, resilient, thoughtful and
co-operative.
Inspiration
We seek to inspire learning through a first class curriculum
which is seated in first hand learning experiences and
delivered through first class teaching. We are extremely
proud of our curriculum which encompasses enterprise,
modern foreign languages, creative arts, environmental issues
and finding out beyond the classroom. Children are challenged
to lead their learning which is relevant and in context to the
times in which they live to prepare them for their future.
Through the range of inspirational visitors that come into
school the children discover whole new worlds. We are able
to take advantage of the stunning hills, valleys and moorlands
that surround school and the children use these as a stimulus
for learning.
Motivation
The children are motivated to learn through the positive
experiences they encounter every day. There are many
special themed days and weeks, celebrations, competitions
and rewards. Children are proud to become members of the
School Council, be Playground Friends and Listening Buddies.
They are exceptionally proud of themselves if they win a
much coveted ‘Gold Star’. The children in KS2 cannot wait to
sign up for the four residential experiences on offer.
All the children in school look forward to educational visits
that enhance learning.
Success
Due to the enthusiasm, commitment and engagement of all
the staff and children at Oughtibridge Primary School we
have earned many awards including the Gold Arts Mark,
Green Flag for Eco Schools and the International Dimensions
Certificate. Through the extensive range of extra curricular
provision many children receive certificates and medals from
the Children’s University. All members of the school
community actively support the achievements of each other.

Inclusion at Oughtibridge Primary School
Oughtibridge Primary School is committed to providing a high quality education
for all. We believe that all children including those identified as having Special
Educational Needs have the same entitlement to a broad and balanced curriculum
which is accessible to them and allows them to be fully included in all aspects of
school life. We believe all members of the school community should be treated
equally. We do our best to ensure we provide a safe environment in which children
can flourish free from prejudice and discrimination.

Teaching and Learning
Education is about learners experiencing the joy of discovery, solving problems,
being creative in writing, art, music, developing self-confidence and maturing
socially and emotionally. High standards are achieved through a broad, balanced
and rich curriculum. Education is the fusion of excellence and enjoyment.
Learners do better when they are excited and engaged and when there is joy
in what they are doing.
Reading, Writing, Communication, Maths and Science are the backbone to our
pupils’ success. We build on our strengths to serve the need of our children
using the expertise in school.
Learning is focussed on individual pupil’s needs and abilities. Teachers and Teaching
Assistants provide a personalised learning approach to support children with SEN,
the more able, Gifted and Talented and Minority Ethnic groups. We give support to
learners that need it most.
We provide an extensive range of extra-curricular activities to extend and
enrich learning.
